Objective of the Business unit - As a part of our Decathlon mission, we the digital team at Decathlon Sport India, want to create a wow experience for our users by creating a seamless omni journey both inside our stores and online through our website and shopping App. We focus on an agile way of working to ensure that we deliver quality software while respecting the timelines to adhere to our user needs.

Your mission:

Your Profile: As a Lead Software engineer, you are recognized for your expertise and impact. Often not only on the feature you are responsible for but also cross-feature. You are appreciated as a technical ambassador for your team, and often to other teams. You are recognized for constantly delivering high-quality code.

Must Have :

• Strong proficiency in JavaScript, including DOM manipulation and the JavaScript object model

• Thorough understanding of React.js and its core principles

• Experience with popular React.js workflows (Redux)

• Familiarity with newer specifications of EcmaScript

• Experience with data structure libraries (e.g., Immutable.js)

• Knowledge of isomorphic React is a plus

• Familiarity with RESTful APIs

• Knowledge of modern authorization mechanisms, such as JSON Web Token

• Familiarity with modern front-end build pipelines and tools

• Experience with common front-end development tools such as Babel, Webpack, NPM, etc.

• Experienced Full Stack React developers who have worked on server side rendering in NodeJs,

• Relevant Experience with frameworks like Next/Gatsby or other PWAs framework

• Comfortable with Mobile & web standards

Scope

• Usually leads at least one major project and sometimes several medium projects on their team

• Usually working within a feature team

• Expert in major areas of the codebase

• Has a thorough understanding of teams domain, and how it contributes to overall business strategy

• Debug and dig deep dives into feature teams codebase

• Understands adjacent teams business domains

• Tunes and changes the monitoring on their team according to monitoring philosophy

Skill & Responsibilities

• Deliver on complex projects

• Design interfaces and reusable components for the team; understands scaling, reliability, and maintenance trade-offs as they occur in practice

• Demonstrate knowledge of industry trends, our infrastructure, and our build system, including Github and all our CI Tools

• Aware of the operational data for the team s domain and utilize it as a basis for suggesting stability and performance improvements

Expected actions & behaviour :

• Drive their own area forward without being asked or told to

• Review tasks critically and ensures they re appropriately sized for continuous integration and incremental delivery

• Ensure commitments are realistic, understands their priority and urgency, and delivers upon them accordingly

• Anticipate and communicate blockers, delays, and cost ballooning for their work before they require escalation.

• Ensures expectations within their team are clarified between all parties involved. Able to question or push back on work that is not valuable for the tech team.

• Seek empirical evidence through proof of concepts, tests and external research

• Approach all engineering work with a security lens. Actively looks for security vulnerabilities both in the code and when providing peer reviews.

• Work effectively with other teams in your domain

• Mentor junior engineers and new hires via pairing, design and code review, to help them onboard and level-up more efficiently

• Excellent technical communication (in and out of the team) that helps others to understand and improve

• Able to discuss complex technical issues at an abstract level with non-technical people

• Frequently contributes to talks and demos in and outside their team to foster innovation and best practices adoption.

• Communicates technical decisions through high-quality design docs, tech talks, and the wiki

• Contributes to recruitment, interviewing, team organization

Qualifications :

• Masters degree is preferred

• 6-8 years of relevant experience

• Good communication essential
