Job Description

Here's the job description for a Principal Technical Expert Embedded Firmware for Battery Management Systems (BMS) & Battery Packs, reorganized into distinct sections: Principal Technical Expert Embedded Firmware (BMS & Battery Packs) Mission Deep decarbonization of electricity generation, together with the electrification of several end-use applications, is necessary to address the climate crisis. Energy Storage Systems (ESS), such as batteries, are a key enabler for deep decarbonization to balance supply and demand. Schneider Electric's Energy Storage Center of Excellence (CoE) enables deep decarbonization through the development of innovative energy storage products that are battery technology-agnostic, scalable, cost-effective, and manufacturable. Schneider Electric is looking for a Principal Technical Expert Embedded Firmware for Battery Management Systems (BMS) & Battery Packs for its Energy Storage Center of Excellence (CoE). SE's Energy Storage CoE enables the company's growth through the development of innovative energy storage products that are battery technology-agnostic, scalable, cost-effective, and manufacturable. Key Responsibilities The incumbent will be responsible for: Embedded Firmware Design & Development:Design and development for Battery Management Systems for UPS and Storage applications. Design, development, testing, debugging, documenting, and launching to mass production BMS & Battery Packs that meet regulatory and safety standards, and reliability requirements. Technical Leadership & Coordination:Play the role of technical lead for a given project scope and thus coordinate with different stakeholders (both technical and project management). Technically lead the project in terms of requirement clarifications, prioritization of technical activities, design reviews, code reviews, test plan reviews, and guidance for testing. Release & Support Activities:Handle the release activities (configuration management, issue tracking, and closure). Act as technical SPOC for project-specific reviews (safety, cybersecurity, stage gate, regulatory, etc.). Work with respective hardware lead(s) and other sub-system technical leads to ensure proper integration and functionality. Competencies & Required Experience Firmware Development & Execution Execute firmware-related activities for the product which covers (but not limited to) following aspects: Requirement elicitation and documentation. Document firmware designs using Flowcharts, State Machine diagrams, Sequence Diagrams, and others. Implementation of code related to identified design. Unit testing of the developed code. Integration testing of FW with HW on bench/battery pack. Analysis and issue resolution of defects detected as part of unit testing, DVT, production, and/or field. Documentation of FW test specification and reports. Reviews:Work closely with peer FW engineers, FW architect, and HW engineers to bring up boards or support in HW validation. Derive and review test plans/test cases for DVP, integration tests. Follow AGILE principles for fast and efficient firmware development. Ensure firmware configuration management and issue tracking/closure. Technical reviews: architecture/design, code, test plan, test reports, release notes. Bring out the best practices for firmware development and adapt continuous improvement processes. Must-Have Requirements Good understanding of the FW design and development process and methodology.
