Role & responsibilities

Job Summary:

The Financial Counselor is responsible for guiding patients and their families through the financial aspects of their treatment. This includes estimating costs, explaining billing procedures, assisting with insurance/TPA processes, and providing support in securing financial assistance or payment plans.

Key Responsibilities:

• Explain hospital billing policies, payment methods, and insurance coverage to patients and their families.
  
• Provide pre-admission financial counseling, including cost estimates for surgeries, admissions, or procedures.
  
• Coordinate with the insurance/TPA department to confirm eligibility and approval for cashless or reimbursement claims.
  
• Assist patients with payment plans, EMI options, and third-party financing if available.
  
• Collect and verify necessary financial documents, including insurance ID, income proofs (if applicable), and consents.
  
• Help patients understand their financial obligations and address any billing queries or grievances.
  
• Maintain updated records of patient interactions, estimates shared, and financial agreements.
  
• Work closely with the admissions, billing, and clinical teams to ensure smooth patient experience.

Preferred candidate profile

• Strong knowledge of hospital billing practices, insurance, and TPA processes.
  
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  
• Ability to handle sensitive financial conversations with empathy and professionalism.
  
• Familiarity with Hospital Information Systems (HIS).
