Job Description

The Fellowship in Interventional Radiology (Hospital-Based) is an advanced clinical training program designed to cultivate specialists in image-guided minimally invasive procedures used for diagnosis and therapy across a range of medical conditions. This fellowship equips doctors with hands-on expertise in interventional procedures such as vascular embolization, biopsies, drainage procedures, angioplasty, and other radiologic interventions under the supervision of experienced interventional radiologists.

The program emphasizes technical proficiency, procedural decision-making, patient safety, and multidisciplinary clinical care.

Role & responsibilities

  • Assist and participate in image-guided interventional procedures under senior supervision
  • Perform and interpret diagnostic imaging including ultrasound, CT, and fluoroscopy in procedural planning
  • Support therapeutic procedures such as biopsies, drainages, embolizations, angiograms, and vascular access under guidance
  • Assist in pre-procedure evaluation and post-procedure patient care
  • Monitor and document procedural outcomes, complications, and patient responses
  • Participate in daily clinical rounds, case discussions, and interdisciplinary meetings
  • Collaborate with surgical, oncology, and critical care teams for comprehensive patient management
  • Manage procedural logs, imaging records, and clinical documentation
  • Attend simulation-based training, hands-on skills workshops, and advanced interventional modules
  • Participate in academic learning, journal clubs, and evidence-based case presentations
  • Ensure strict adherence to procedural safety, radiation protection standards, and clinical best practices
  • Support research, audits, and continuous learning initiatives within the interventional radiology unit

Preferred candidate profile:

  • MD / DNB in Radiology
  • Prior exposure to interventional radiology procedures or diagnostic imaging preferred
  • Solid understanding of imaging principles, anatomy, and procedural planning
  • Strong hand-eye coordination, technical aptitude, and procedural confidence
  • Good clinical judgment, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and teamwork ability in multidisciplinary clinical settings
  • Commitment to professionalism, ethical care, and patient safety
  • Willingness to participate in academic and research activities
  • Dedication to continuous skill improvement and clinical excellence
