Facility Manager / Support Service Manager

Job Summary:

The Hospital Facility Manager is responsible for ensuring that the hospital's buildings, infrastructure, equipment, and physical environment are safe, functional, and compliant with health and safety standards. This role involves overseeing maintenance, security, utilities, biomedical equipment support, and facility improvement projects to support the smooth operation of clinical and non-clinical services.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Facility Maintenance & Operations:

• Oversee daily operations of hospital infrastructure including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, elevators, and structural maintenance.
• Schedule and supervise routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and repairs.
• Respond to emergency maintenance issues promptly.

2. Compliance & Safety:

• Ensure compliance with healthcare facility regulations, fire safety codes, building codes, and environmental standards.
• Coordinate health, safety, and environmental audits and implement corrective actions.
• Maintain documentation for inspections, compliance certifications, and permits.

3. Staff & Contractor Management:

• Manage facility maintenance staff, including technicians, engineers, and janitorial teams.
• Coordinate with external contractors for specialized services Housekeeping, Security.
• Monitor to contractual employees as per allocate duty roster and work schedule.
• Provide training and performance evaluations for the facilities team.

4. Project Management:

• Plan and oversee facility renovation, construction, and upgrade projects.
• Collaborate with architects, engineers, and vendors on design and implementation.
• Monitor project budgets, timelines, and quality standards.

5. Utility & Resource Management:

• Monitor and optimize the use of energy, water, and other utilities.
• Implement cost-effective and sustainable facility management practices.
• Ensure uninterrupted operation of backup systems like generators and UPS.

6. Security & Emergency Preparedness:

• Oversee hospital security systems including surveillance, access control, and alarms.
• Collaborate with security staff and emergency teams for preparedness and drills.
• Develop contingency plans for facility-related emergencies (e.g., power outages, floods).

7. Inventory & Asset Management:

• Maintain an inventory of tools, spare parts, and critical facility assets.
• Ensure biomedical and infrastructure equipment is serviced and functioning optimally.
