Social Psychology, Cultural Psychology, Migration Studies, Sociology, Educational SciencesKU Leuven invites applications for a four-year, full-time PhD researcher position within the ERC Starting Grant project “PsychAcc: Rethink Psychological Acculturation,” led by Prof. Jozefien De Leersnyder. This project aims to empirically investigate cultural (mis)fit in self, cognition, and motivation as invisible barriers to equity in education, and how these factors relate to student well-being and academic outcomes. The research will integrate perspectives from social and cultural psychology, acculturation psychology, educational sciences, and sociology, employing advanced quantitative methods.
Requirements
– Master’s degree in Social or Cultural Psychology, Psychology (research master), Migration Studies, Sociology, School Psychology, Developmental Psychology, Educational Sciences, or a related discipline with demonstrable expertise in social/cultural psychological processes, education, or migration, and advanced statistics.– Strong knowledge of multivariable statistics; willingness and ability to learn advanced statistical methods (e.g., longitudinal and multilevel analyses).– Self-directed, proactive, and collaborative team player.– Proficiency in English (B2-C2); knowledge of a migration language of Belgium is an asset.– Strong academic writing skills.– Experience with multiple cultural contexts is considered a plus.– Students graduating by summer 2025 are eligible to apply.
