POSITION SUMMARY & JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
ACCOUNTABILITY OBJECTIVE
Enterprise Architect serves as the owner of a Regional IT Strategy and associated Enterprise Architecture for solutions, infrastructure, data, and security. The position is accountable for delivery and adherence to a comprehensive Enterprise Architecture aligned to Bridgestone 3.0 and other global initiatives.
The Enterprise Architecture is a member of the Information Technology Leadership Team and collaborates with other senior leaders to ensure the teams and initiatives are aligned to deliver maximum value to Bridgestone and ensures that all regional architecture and technology strategies are aligned, compatible and complimentary with global and regional directions.
PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES
KRA 1: Design, implement and oversee regional architectural and technical standards, principals, and usage guidelines
- Establish a regional Enterprise Architecture framework and practice
- Communicate architecture and IT standards to all stakeholders and ensure standards are published, updated, and adhered to
- Lead the definition, development and validation of architecture principles and standards and usage guidelines for delivering solutions based on industry trends, innovation, business risk appetite and business drivers
- Liaise with key IT regional partners to quantify and communicate the impacts, trade-offs, risks, costs, benefits, and opportunities of IT solutions from an architecture perspective
- Ensure that systems are architected to be secure and resilient through the effective application of security and Business Continuity principles
KRA 2: Build, implement and manage a regional strategy and technology roadmap
- Define and maintain a rolling 3-year strategy and 3-year technical architectural roadmap to ensure capacity and scalability, as demand and usage evolve across the SBU. These will be key inputs to the MBP (Midterm Business Plans, 3 Year IT Plan).
- Work with key technology partners across all Group Companies in BSAPIC to ensure the strategy and roadmap are understood and implemented
- Identify, assess, and communicate risks related to the strategy and roadmap
- Collaborate and drive alignment within Bridgestones organization and the broader business by focusing on: Business Architecture, Enterprise Architecture, Information Security and Risk Management, Corporate Strategy and others
- Lead and direct group companies to align their technical strategies with regional and global directions
- Keep up to date with architecture, IT strategy and technology innovation best practices and industry trends
- Understand current and future business objectives, to interpret these requirements into relevant IT technical specifications
KRA 3: Manage the Enterprise Architecture & Strategy practice across BSAPIC
- Prepare job descriptions for subordinate staff and delegate responsibility and authority in accordance with those job descriptions
- Build and empower a high-performing Architecture team. Set the vision and motivate and guide the team to deliver on that vision
- Undertake yearly appraisals, recruit, train and develop direct reports in conjunction with the HR department to meet the changing needs of the company
- Responsible for budget planning & control over IT strategy and architecture
- Identify and shape current and future needs for staff skills, and enterprise architecture and make recommendations for improvements and changes to departmental structure where these are seen to be needed
- Establish priorities in line with the company’s strategic priorities, developing and maintaining high standards of delivery, ensuring team’s access to the tools and resources needed to perform their roles, and managing schedules and team workload
- Exercise quality control and progress control over the work of direct reports, motivating them and ensuring that good standards of discipline and conduct are maintained and preparing periodic performance appraisal
- Provide regular progress reports to the Regional Head of IT
KRA 4: Provide “Enterprise Technical Evangelism” within the Bridgestone Corporation at Global, Regional and Group Company levels
- Provide people, industry and technology leadership and direction within IT and to the overall organization by fostering internal and external stakeholder communications
- Work with Global working groups to further Global initiatives within the region and represent BSAPIC’s unique requirements globally within the architecture practice and other domain specific areas
- Work across all IT and Business transformation teams at Bridgestone to determine the landscape of new capabilities and then priorities which ones should be acted upon
- Lead Technology Design Authority groups and Architectural Review Boards, to ensure proposed solutions and projects align with regional technical strategies and standards
- Work with Engineers, Tech Leads, and Architects to drive advancements in maturity. Establish and monitor KPIs, leverage and/or integrate with other shared capabilities, ensure consistency & excellence in architecture/design artifacts, conduct security reviews, operational reviews, vendor reviews, enforce alignment with architecture principles etc.
- Work closely with regional IT leadership to align SBU wide efforts, projects, and strategies to global IT direction
- Represent Bridgestone by participating in industry events relative to technology strategy and direction
- Proactively monitor strategic direction of solution vendors, technology, and market trends, and determine their potential impact and value. Maintaining knowledge of current and emergent technologies to ensure Bridgestone keeps its competitive ability.
- Maintain high level overview of operational systems and applications used across all Bridgestone SBUs
- Identify solutions used by other Bridgestone SBUs that have potential to fit local or regional requirements
KRA 5: Support Bridgestone vision for ‘Perfect Safety’
- Comply with HSE instructions, policies, and procedures.
- Report all incidents, near misses and hazards.
- Use and maintain safety devices and personnel protective equipment correctly.
- Be familiar with emergency and evacuation procedures and complying with the instructions given by emergency response personnel such as emergency wardens and first aiders.
WORKING RELATIONSHIPS
- Reports directly to the Regional Head of IT BSAPIC
- Required to work closely with all business leaders and management across Bridgestone China Asia Pacific
- Works closely with Regional Head of IT BSAPIC and the IT Leadership council to understand SBU-wide requirements and to ensure regional strategies align with global initiatives
- Manage resources across all BSAPIC group companies as a combination of direct and matrix reports
- Works closely with the Global Enterprise Architecture team, and other global IT workgroups to develop roadmaps, strategies, and core solutions for Bridgestone Corporation, representing regional interests
- Relationships must be established and maintained with management and personnel at all levels, as well as external organizations and associations as required
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Engineering Degree qualification in computing or equivalent.
- 15+ years’ experience in enterprise or large corporate environments with complex systems.
- Demonstrable and solid understanding of architectural security principles, secure integration with client API’s, third-party applications, data architecture and governance
- Working knowledge of systems architectural concepts and frameworks like TOGAF preferred
- Proven and recognized technical expert across a broad range of technologies including Networking, servers, virtualization, cloud, authentication systems, security, applications, and end user devices
- Solid understanding of strategic and new and emerging technology trends, and the practical application of existing, new, and emerging technologies to new and evolving business and operating models
- ITIL practitioner and project management training
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills across multiple cultures and business levels
- Strong presentation, stake holder relationship and interpersonal skills including the ability to articulate ideas to both technical and non-technical audience
