Job Description

Role & responsibilities

  • Define system-level architecture for electric propulsion, including motors, inverters, gearboxes, and controllers.
  • Specify and select LV (12V/24V) and HV (up to 800V) components such as batteries, DC/DC converters, on-board chargers, and HV junction boxes.
  • Develop functional specifications, interface definitions, and validation plans for drive systems and powertrain components.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and suppliers to integrate and validate motor controllers, inverters, and electronic control units (ECUs).
  • Oversee integration of drive-by-wire systems and electronic throttle control in coordination with software and control teams.
  • Conduct simulations and trade-off analysis (e.g., efficiency, thermal, EMC/EMI) for motor-inverter combinations.
  • Ensure safety and compliance with standards such as ISO 26262, UNECE R100, and LV/HV handling protocols.
  • Support vehicle-level testing, fault analysis, and diagnostics of electric drive systems in labs and on prototypes.

Preferred candidate profile

  • Experience with high-voltage and low-voltage components sourcing and supplier qualification.
  • Working knowledge of BMS (Battery Management Systems), VCU (Vehicle Control Units), and thermal management integration.
  • Exposure to ISO 21434 (Cybersecurity), functional safety, and automotive SPICE development.
  • Understanding of homologation and regulatory approval processes for EVs.
  • Hands-on experience with wiring harness design.
  • Ideal candidate would be someone who has worked in both Tier-1 and an automotive OEM (only electrical and electronics relevant).

Required Qualifications

  • B.E./B.Tech or M.E./M.Tech in Electrical, Electronics, Mechatronics, or Automotive Engineering.
  • 4+ years of hands-on experience in electric vehicle systems, especially electric powertrain architecture.
  • Deep understanding of electric machines (PMSM, IM, SRM, etc), inverters, and power electronic converters.
  • Knowledge of LV/HV systems, high voltage safety design, insulation coordination, and grounding practices.
  • Familiarity with CAN, LIN, UDS, and diagnostics frameworks.
  • Familiarity with MATLAB/Simulink, or similar tools.
