Engineering Manager - Security

Job Description

Core Security Engineering at Uber is focused on making the production environment secure by default and providing industry-leading products and services to all Ubers production services and infrastructure. As a manager in the Security - Access Management (IAM) team, you will collaborate with stakeholders to build and maintain backend services and solutions supporting infrastructure systems, downstream services, and tools used across Uber. Your responsibilities will include: Owning critical distributed multi-cloud services at a massive scale. Providing and managing systems, services, and libraries for access management and enforcement Making long-term decisions on leveraging next-generation infrastructure to scale and operate foundational security services Focusing on authentication/authorization and identity & access management Creating foundational systems for privileged access management. Create a team roadmap and manage in an agile manner. Basic Qualifications: Bachelor s or masters degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field. 10+ years of experience in software engineering 4+ years of experience in a leadership role. Strong hands-on technical skills, including proficiency in one or more programming languages (Go, Java, Python, C/C++) and code reviews. Deep understanding of software engineering fundamentals, including algorithms, data structures, system design, and architecture. Proven ability to lead technical projects end-to-end, from design through deployment. Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills with a bias for action. Experience building and scaling teams while maintaining a culture of technical excellence. Preferred Qualifications: Knowledge of cybersecurity concepts, tools, and best practices. Certifications in Security is a plus Working knowledge or familiarity with Identity and Access Management or Authorization. Hands-on experience with coding highly available systems. Experience with modern development practices (eg, CI/CD, microservices, cloud platforms like AWS/GCP). Experience with AI/ML technologies / frameworks and incorporating them into production systems Proven track record of driving technical innovation and solving complex engineering challenges.
