Engineering Manager

About the Role

We are seeking a seasoned and hands-on Engineering Manager with deep expertise in investment banking technology, preferably in trade booking and lifecycle management across asset classes. This role is ideal for a technologist who thrives in high-performance environments, has led global teams, and is passionate about building scalable systems from the ground up while modernizing legacy infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the technical delivery of one or more software engineering teams across development, QA, and support functions.
• Drive greenfield product development and oversee the maintenance of existing systems.
• Spearhead technology transformation initiatives, including:
• Distributed system design
• Legacy application decommissioning
• Microservices architecture for Java-based applications
• Define and execute technical strategy, aligning with product roadmaps and long-term business goals.
• Ensure best practices in software development lifecycle, architecture, and engineering standards.
• Build and nurture trusted relationships with senior stakeholders across business and technology.
• Facilitate critical conversations to align cross-functional teams and resolve complex challenges.
• Manage and mentor global teams of 10 - 20 professionals, fostering collaboration and performance excellence.
• Champion cloud-first development using Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and other modern cloud technologies.
• Represent the organization in industry events, conferences, and internal forums as a thought leader.

Required Qualifications

• 20+ years of experience in software engineering, with a strong background in investment banking.
• Subject matter expertise in at least one asset class preferably in trade booking and lifecycle management.
• Proven track record in engineering leadership, including managing distributed teams and delivering complex systems.
• Deep experience in Java, microservices, and cloud-native architectures.
• Mandatory experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) or equivalent cloud technologies.
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and collaborate across senior business and tech stakeholders.
• Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking abilities, with a bias for action and delivery.
