Engineering Head (Chandigarh/Mohali)

Our client is a fast-growing FinTech + EdTech startup based in Chandigarh/Mohali.

Requirements:

• 5+ years experience in Software Engineering
• Previous experience with Trading Platforms is a plus
• Strong analytic skills and a demonstrated sense of ownership and accountability
• Empathetic, people-centred mindset and a passion for leadership
• Deep understanding of all aspects of the software development lifecycle as well as agile principles
• Track record of designing Engineering organization structure
• Business acumen: Proven understanding of business dynamics, goals, and product strategy
• The ability to balance business needs, a sense of urgency, conflicting constraints, and shipping high-quality and pragmatic solutions in a fast-moving and quickly-growing company
• Knowledge of Software Development in at least one of the following areas: mobile apps, high-scale backend services or consumer-facing products
• Excellent communication and English skills

Responsibilities:

• Lead, coach and inspire a team of Engineers and QAs
• Support all facets of team management to attract, engage, retain, and nurture teams of outstanding engineers (e.g., recruitment, mentoring, training and development, performance evaluation)
• Drive excellent customer experience, continually raising the bar on functionality, usability, and simplicity
• Create and foster an environment where our engineering teams can create their best possible work
• Champion engineering and operational excellence, establishing metrics and processes for regular assessment and improvement
• Establish a solid project framework and excellent development processes
• Lead agile software processes for the engineering team and introduce best-in-class industry practices
• Handle technical debt to ensure our development velocity stays responsive and predictable while minimizing production incidents of our operations
