Details about the position

Designation Engineer / Sr. Engineer

Department Purchase (Raw Materials)

Base Location Nighoje, Chakan, Pune

Reporting to – DGM

Business Line - Machining Business, Heavy Fabrication and Light Fabrications

Present Turnover - 2,500 cr (18 Plant in Pune and 1 Plant in US)

Job Role

steel bars, pipes, tubes, and machined parts

The Buyer will manage vendor relationships, negotiate contracts, and coordinate with internal teams to support production needs.

Role & responsibilities

Procure raw materials such as
steel round bars, pipes and tubes
from Indian and overseas suppliers.
Understand and interpret raw material specifications, grades and standards
(carbon steel, alloy steel etc.).
Identify and develop reliable suppliers, mills and stockists dealing in raw materials.
Float RFQs to suppliers, evaluate quotations, prepare comparison sheets and conduct price negotiations.
Release purchase orders (POs), follow up with suppliers for on-time material delivery and coordinate logistics arrangements.
Ensure adherence to quality, cost and delivery timelines.
Maintain effective written and verbal communication in English for supplier interactions and reporting.
Work on SAP-MM module or any other ERP system (e.g., Baan, JD Edwards) for procurement activities.

Preferred candidate profile

Strong knowledge of procurement processes and raw material sourcing.
Good understanding of metallurgy / material specifications.
Negotiation, supplier management and cost optimization skills.
Hands-on experience in ERP systems (SAP-MM preferred).
Proficiency in MS Office and documentation.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
