Endoscopy Nurse

Qualifications:

• GNM/ Bsc Nursing / Post Basic Nursing
• Valid Kerala Nursing Council Registration

Experience Level:

• Minimum 1 Year

1. Pre-Procedure Responsibilities

• Patient Preparation: Educate and inform patients about the procedure, including risks, benefits, and aftercare.
• Medical History Review: Assess patient records, allergies, and contraindications.
• Consent Verification: Ensure informed consent has been obtained and documented.
• IV Line Insertion: Start IV lines for sedation or medication administration.
• Equipment Preparation: Set up and test endoscopy equipment (scopes, monitors, suction, etc.).

2. Intra-Procedure Responsibilities

• Assist the Physician: Provide direct support to the gastroenterologist or surgeon during the procedure.
• Monitor Vital Signs: Continuously observe patient’s heart rate, oxygen levels, blood pressure, and respiratory status.
• Specimen Handling: Collect, label, and transport biopsy specimens or cultures as per protocol.
• Maintain Sterile Field: Follow strict infection control and sterile technique procedures.

3. Post-Procedure Responsibilities

• Recovery Monitoring: Observe patients in recovery for signs of adverse reactions or complications.
• Patient Education: Provide discharge instructions regarding diet, medication, activity, and signs of complications.
• Documentation: Accurately document procedure details, medications administered, vital signs, and patient responses.
• Family Communication: Inform and reassure family members as appropriate.

4. Administrative & Compliance Duties

• Equipment Maintenance: Clean and sterilize scopes and tools, ensure proper function of all devices.
• Inventory Management: Monitor and restock supplies as needed.
• Policy Adherence: Follow hospital policies, infection control standards etc..
• Training and Education: Stay updated with new procedures, attend in-services, and mentor junior staff.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: ₹18,000.00 - ₹22,000.00 per month
