Job Description

Job Title: Embedded Hardware Design & Debug Engineer (UPS / Power Electronics Domain)

  • Independently design, develop, and validate embedded hardware boards for UPS control, monitoring, and power conversion applications.
  • Perform board bring-up, functional testing, and debugging using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and other test instruments.
  • Troubleshoot analog, digital, and mixed-signal circuits, including SMPS control, inverter interface, communication, and sensing boards.
  • Collaborate with power electronics, firmware, and mechanical teams for system integration and EMI/EMC-compliant design.
  • Develop test setups, validation jigs, and automated test procedures for prototype and production-level UPS control hardware.
  • Execute component selection, schematic capture, and simulations in tools such as Altium, OrCAD, KiCad, TINA, and LTspice.
  • Conduct design reviews focusing on manufacturability (DFM), reliability, cost optimization, and long-term product sustainability.
  • Support signal integrity testing, power sequencing validation, and hardwarefirmware interface verification.
  • Create and maintain test documentation, design reports, and failure analysis records.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement in hardware validation methodology, test coverage, and design standardization across UPS platforms.

Technical Skills Required:

  • Strong hands-on experience in embedded board bring-up, testing, and hardware debugging.
  • Solid understanding of UPS control boards, SMPS controller interfaces, analog front-end circuits, and power stage communication interfaces.
  • Expertise in microcontroller-based system design (STM32, TI C2000, PIC, or similar).
  • Proficiency with test instruments DSO, logic analyzer, LCR meter, power analyzer, and multimeter.
  • Strong understanding of DC-DC converters, AC-DC front ends, inverter control boards, and gate driver interfacing.
  • Experience with communication buses: SPI, IC, UART, CAN, RS485, and Ethernet.
  • Familiarity with firmwarehardware co-debugging, power-up sequencing, and embedded boot analysis.
  • Knowledge of thermal design, EMI/EMC considerations, and signal integrity best practices.
  • Exposure to hardware validation, stress testing, and system-level reliability evaluation.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelors or Masters degree in Electronics, Electrical, or Instrumentation Engineering.
  • Relevant experience in UPS industry design and validation with hands-on exposure to rectifier, charger, inverter, and control system hardware.
  • Working knowledge of UPS system architecture, including AC/DC front ends, DC link management, inverter control, and communication/control boards.
  • Exposure to regulatory standards and safety compliance (CE, UL, IEC, CISPR).
  • Familiarity with version control tools, design documentation practices, and hardware change management systems.

Soft Skills:

  • Strong analytical and diagnostic skills for hardware problem-solving.
  • Ability to work independently on complete hardware design and validation cycles.
  • Effective cross-functional collaboration with firmware, mechanical, and test engineers.
  • Proactive approach in design improvements, test coverage expansion, and validation efficiency.
  • Excellent technical documentation and communication skills for multi-disciplinary R&D teams.
