Job Description

We are looking for a skilled Electrical Hardware Engineer with 8 to 13 years of experience to join our team in Bengaluru. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in designing and developing variable speed drives and power conversion systems.

Roles and Responsibility

Design, develop, and test variable speed drives, motor control circuits, and power electronic systems.
Conduct prototype builds to ensure compliance with specifications, efficiency, and reliability.
Create electrical schematics and PCBAs for power stage, control boards, and gate driver circuits.
Develop Altium-based wire harnesses and cabling for drive systems, including BOM generation and routing optimization.
Select components such as IGBTs, SiC/MOSFETs, gate drivers, magnetics, sensors, and protection circuits for drive applications.
Develop and execute VSD performance verification test plans (efficiency, harmonic distortion, thermal, EMI/EMC).
Analyze failure modes, reliability, and drive performance improvements.
Develop mathematical models of motor-drive systems to guide design and validation.
Troubleshoot and refine prototypes/final products for power density, thermal, and manufacturability targets.
Resolve failure issues and identify root causes; qualify alternate components for obsolete or supply-chain constrained parts.
Create and maintain documentation: BOMs, harness drawings, ECNs/EDNs, test procedures, and design packages.
Provide sustaining engineering support for existing VSD products and address field-return/production issues.
Collaborate with Product Management and Procurement to drive cost reductions and performance improvements.
Evaluate and introduce new power semiconductors, passive components, manufacturing techniques, and design tools.
Manage prototype procurement, supplier quoting, ordering, and material inspection.
Ensure compliance with UL, CE, IEC 61800-5-1, and IEEE 519 standards for variable speed drives.
Coordinate with external labs for compliance (safety, EMC/EMI, efficiency testing).
Support the companys Quality Management System (ISO 9001 and customer requirements).
Train and mentor junior engineers on PCB, harness design, and VSD development practices.

Job Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering with 8+ years of relevant experience.
Experience in designing variable speed drives (VSDs), motor control circuits, and power stages.
Knowledge of IGBTs, SiC/MOSFETs, gate drivers, magnetics, sensors, and protection circuits.
Proficient in tools like Altium Designer for PCB and harness design.
Understanding of AC/DC motor types, control algorithms (FOC, V/f), and drive topologies.
Familiarity with UL, CE, IEC 61800-5-1, IEEE 519, and EMI/EMC requirements.
Ability to model motor-drive systems for design and validation.
Experience in creating schematics and PCB layouts for control boards and gate driver circuits.
Good understanding of ISO 9001 and customer-specific quality requirements.
Exposure to debugging prototypes and final products for power density, thermal, and manufacturability.
Preferred to have experience in working with Product Management and Procurement for cost reduction.
Preferred to have experience with MATLAB/Simulink, PLECS, or similar for system-level modeling.
Preferred to have experience in introducing new semiconductors, passive components, and design tools.
Desired to have experience in training junior engineers on PCB and VSD development practices.
Desired to have experience in handling compliance testing for safety, EMC/EMI, and efficiency.
