Dispatch and Logistics Officer

Roles & Responsibilities

• Manage dispatch and freight operations to ensure timely delivery of goods to customers, dealers, and stockyards.
• Maintain accurate records of inventory levels, stock movements, and vehicle dispatch details.
• Coordinate with godown, manufacturer yard, plant, and railway siding teams to streamline incoming and outgoing vehicle movement.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, transport regulations, GST/e-way bill requirements, and statutory guidelines.
• Collaborate with sales, production, and accounts teams to resolve dispatch-related issues, discrepancies, or urgent requirements.
• Coordinate with transporters, fleet operators, and internal logistics team to plan, allocate, and track vehicles efficiently.
• Monitor loading and unloading activities, ensuring correct product dispatch as per challans and invoices.
• Liaise with railway authorities for wagon placement, loading, and clearance of rakes.
• Prepare and circulate daily/weekly reports on dispatch volumes, pending deliveries, inventory status, and vehicle utilization.
• Continuously work on improving turnaround time, freight cost optimization, and logistics efficiency.

Key Skills & Competencies

• Strong knowledge of freight, logistics, and dispatch management in a manufacturing/steel environment.
• Familiarity with warehouse/godown operations and railway siding coordination.
• Proficiency in MS Excel, ERP/logistics systems (SAP, Tally, or equivalent).
• Good communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to handle ground-level operational challenges and multiple stakeholders simultaneously.

Qualifications & Experience

• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in dispatch/logistics of industrial or steel products.
• Experience in handling railway freight and bulk consignments preferred.
