Discretionary Trader

The candidate will be part of a trading team and be responsible for

Generating and analysing ideas to be used in discretionary equity trading

Managing trading positions

Key Responsibilities

Managerial Responsibilities

None initially, but will be responsible for leading trading teams and grooming new traders eventually

Functional Responsibilities

Tracking news related to companies/economy and identifying potential trades

Tracking and maintaining a database of regularly released data (company results, monthly auto sales etc) to generate trade ideas

Liaising with sell-side analysts to gain in-depth knowledge of companies/sectors. Specialisation in 1-2 sectors for research and news tracking purposes

Creating a trading framework with the help of a mentor using extensive backtesting (for quantitative indicators) and/or sound logical principles

Full responsibility for a trading book within 6-9 months of starting

Job Requirements

Qualifications

MBA IIM or other premier institutes OR CA with some capital markets experience

Experience

Relevant work experience of 0-2 years

Functional Competencies

Analytical skills, logical thinking

Basic knowledge of derivatives, fundamental and technical analysis

Effective communication and collaborative skills

Meticulous, methodical, inquisitive personality with willingness to stretch, hunger to learn and passion for markets
