As the Director of Data Risk Management at American Express, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the integrity and confidentiality of data assets for the Global Commercial Services (GCS) business. Reporting directly to the VP, Commercial Data Office, you will collaborate with various stakeholders to implement robust data management frameworks, monitor data-related risks, and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. In this position, you will have the opportunity to develop and implement comprehensive data risk management frameworks aligned with Enterprise policies and industry best practices. Your role will involve identifying, assessing, and prioritizing data risks and vulnerabilities, as well as designing and deploying risk mitigation practices. Collaboration with data owners and users to implement effective data management processes will be essential. Additionally, you will be responsible for harmonizing key policies with necessary processes, monitoring data risk measures, conducting training programs, and ensuring cohesive programs across various teams. Key Responsibilities: - Develop and implement comprehensive data risk management frameworks aligned with Enterprise policies and industry best practices - Identify, assess, and prioritize data risks and vulnerabilities, design and deploy risk mitigation practices - Collaborate with data owners and users to modify or implement new repeatable and reliable business processes - Harmonize key policies and guidelines with necessary processes in collaboration with cross-functional partners - Monitor and analyze data risk measures for GCS, providing insights and recommendations to senior management - Develop and conduct regular training and awareness programs for GCS colleagues on data risk management practices - Collaborate across other CoDO Data Governance and Quality teams to ensure cohesive programs and scalable solutions for the business Qualifications Required: - 5+ years of direct work experience in risk management, data governance, or a similar role in the financial services or banking industry - Proven track record of understanding business challenges and strategies and connecting them to data risk - Demonstrated experience in developing data risk management programs and defining data risk assessments and measures - Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills - Ability to work with white space to design and execute solutions for complex challenges - High-caliber communication skills for delivering strategic visions and updates to large groups and senior leaders - Experience leading cross-functional, global teams - Positive, collaborative leadership style with a colleague and customer first mindset As the Director of Data Risk Management at American Express, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the integrity and confidentiality of data assets for the Global Commercial Services (GCS) business.
