Role Overview

We are looking for a Diagnostic Writer to join our Service Engineering & Technical Publications team. The role focuses on developing accurate and service-friendly diagnostic content for vehicles manufactured in India, including commercial vehicles, buses, and passenger cars. The candidate should have strong automotive domain knowledge, especially in electronic control systems, and hands-on exposure to diagnostic tools used in Indian OEMs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and update

    diagnostic procedures

    for electrical, electronic, and mechanical systems in vehicles.
  • Document

    fault codes (DTCs), troubleshooting steps, and guided diagnostics

    for service manuals and OEM diagnostic tools.
  • Work closely with

    design engineers, validation teams, and service engineers

    to gather technical inputs.
  • Validate diagnostic content through

    vehicle testing, service tool simulation, or test benches

    .
  • Ensure diagnostic documentation aligns with

    Indian market requirements

    , local service practices, and global standards (SAE J1939, UDS, OBD-II).
  • Create clear, easy-to-understand

    content for service technicians

    across dealer and workshop networks.
  • Support integration of diagnostic procedures into

    OEM diagnostic software and service information portals

    .
  • Ensure compliance with

    safety standards, company guidelines, and regulatory requirements

    (BS6 norms, OBD-II).

Required Skills & Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of

    vehicle systems

    : Powertrain, BS6 emission systems, electrical, chassis, telematics, and infotainment.
  • Understanding of

    diagnostic communication protocols

    (CAN, LIN, UDS, J1939, OBD-II).
  • Hands-on experience with

    OEM diagnostic tools

    (e.g., Mahindra Diagnostic Tool, Tata Motors Fleet Edge, Ashok Leyland iALERT, Maruti Suzuki Tech Tool, etc.).
  • Knowledge of

    fault code management

    and guided diagnostics.
  • Familiarity with

    technical authoring tools

    (XML-based editors, CMS platforms).
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to simplify complex diagnostics for field technicians.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Automobile, Mechanical, Electrical, or Electronics Engineering.
  • Experience in

    Indian vehicle OEMs or Tier-1 suppliers

  • Exposure to

    service engineering, field diagnostics, or dealer-level service support

    .
  • Understanding of

    BS6/OBD-II regulations, functional safety (ISO 26262), and telematics-based diagnostics
