As the DGM - Product Quality Head for Power Train at Mahindra Mahindra Ltd, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the highest quality standards across the manufacturing plant. You will be responsible for the strategic deployment of the Quality Vision and Policy through meticulous planning, efficient allocation of resources, and implementation of a robust quality management system.
Your mandate will include prioritising the resolution of field and internal quality issues by initiating targeted interventions and setting clear objectives to safeguard customer interests. Providing expert guidance for field concern resolutions will be central to your role, ensuring continuous improvement and customer satisfaction.
You will ensure that all outgoing products consistently meet or exceed the expectations of subsequent and final customers, maintaining stringent control over product and process parameters critical to quality. This will involve regular monitoring and application of statistical analysis tools to uphold rigorous quality standards.
Benchmarking product and process parameters against industry standards and competitors will be essential to drive improvements. You will undertake site visits to vehicle manufacturing plants and field operations to gain firsthand insights into product challenges and customer expectations, collaborating closely with cross-functional stakeholders to devise and implement necessary enhancements.
Compliance with statutory requirements, including current and emerging legal standards such as COP tests for battery packs, will be your responsibility. You will interface with regulatory bodies such as ARAI and ICAT to address issues, resolve queries, and ensure adherence to all mandatory compliance norms.
You will proactively engage early in new projects to embed quality learnings, deploying a comprehensive verification system to assure incoming parts, manufacturing processes, and design compliance. Establishing and maintaining quality system requirements specific to projects in alignment with Quality Planning will be crucial.
Championing plant-wide quality initiatives will require active leadership and collaboration with your team to meet organisational goals, including driving NFF (No Fault Found) investigations, Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ) reduction, digitisation initiatives, and other quality-related programs.
Empowered to take necessary actions, you will have the authority to halt production in cases of quality management system breaches, product defects, or process anomalies to maintain uncompromising quality standards.
Organising and leading periodic management review meetings will be a key responsibility to communicate progress against quality initiatives and goals, ensure timely escalation of issues, and implement corrective actions following the PDCA (Plan-Do-Check-Act) cycle. You will prepare and distribute detailed MIS reports to relevant stakeholders, driving accountability and closure of actions.
As a leader, you will provide functional guidance to your team to enhance quality excellence, fostering a culture of structured problem solving and continuous improvement to increase both effectiveness and efficiency throughout the organisation.
