Desktop Support Engineer

Key Responsibilities

Advanced Troubleshooting: Diagnosing and resolving complex hardware, software, operating system, and network connectivity problems that L1 support could not handle.

System Management: Performing installations, configurations, and upgrades of desktops, laptops, applications, and peripherals.

Documentation & Knowledge Base: Creating and maintaining detailed documentation of support requests, resolutions, troubleshooting steps, and system configurations.

System Security: Implementing and maintaining security measures to protect against malware, viruses, and unauthorized access, which may include installing security patches and configuring firewalls.

User Support & Training: Assisting users with complex technical issues, providing technical guidance to junior support staff, and potentially training users on new systems and software.

Collaboration: Working with other IT professionals to ensure efficient and secure integration of technology and contribute to project work.

System Maintenance: Monitoring system performance, optimizing resource utilization, and performing proactive maintenance on operating systems and related applications.

Escalation Handling: Managing and prioritizing multiple complex support requests, ensuring timely resolution and user satisfaction.

Required Skills & Knowledge

Deep understanding of IT systems: Requires a strong grasp of hardware, software, operating systems (like Windows 10/11), and core applications.

Strong problem-solving abilities: Essential for analyzing complex issues and devising effective solutions.

Networking fundamentals: Basic knowledge of network protocols and connectivity troubleshooting is often required.

Familiarity with IT infrastructure: Understanding of how systems, networks, and applications integrate.

Ticketing tools: Experience with ticketing systems for managing support requests.

Security protocols: Knowledge of implementing and maintaining security measures.
