Designer - Mixed Use

Your Role
We are currently seeking a highly experienced Designer for Large Scale Mixed Use (commercial / residential led developments with retail / hospitality).

As a Gensler Designer, you will collaborate with our design team to develop innovative design solutions as well as coordinate the design through the construction documentation phase of a project. You demonstrate innovative thinking, and are a recognized contributor to high-profile, design driven projects.

What You Will Do

• Ideate and lead the team in collaboration with the Design Director to create innovative designs in response to complex challenges
• Participate in all project phases, including conceptual designs, presentations, schematic design, design development, construction documents and production
• Collaborate with design team, clients, consultants, contractors, fabricators, regulatory agencies and other vendors to meet overall project objectives
• Produce graphic presentations, 3D renderings, and construction drawings
• Utilize hand rendering techniques to communicate design concepts
• Flexibility to focus on concurrent projects in various stages of development
• A quick learner with an ability to thrive in a fast-paced work environment
• Effective communicator, collaborative and team-conscious.
• Provide Mentorship and coaching to grow junior staff members
• Participate in office culture and initiatives

Your Qualifications

• Bachelor s degree Architecture, or foreign equivalent, Master s degree is a plus.
• 10+ years of related project experience, preferably in commercial-led and residential-led mixed use, but also across various practice areas.
• Registered Architect.
• Knowledge of materials, construction techniques and building codes
• LEED accreditation a plus

Your Design Technology Qualifications

Essential:

• Deep understanding and expertise in Autodesk Revit for design authoring, documentation, data extracts and project delivery.
• Deep understanding and expertise in Rhinoceros for design authoring.
• Good knowledge and experience with interoperability workflows between Rhino & Revit throughout all the stages of a project.
• Basic understanding and familiarity with real-time rendering processes, and material creation & management within the context of integrated BIM and parametric workflows.
• Basic understanding and familiarity with Computational Design applications such as Grasshopper and/or Dynamo.
• Basic understanding and familiarity with simulation principles and processes, including interpretation, and application of results.

Desirable:

• Good knowledge and experience with the strategic planning, and setup of BIM projects.
• Good knowledge and experience with collaboration within the BIM context, including cloud-based markups, consultant coordination and clash detection.
• Good knowledge and experience with Computational Design applications such as Grasshopper and/or Dynamo.
• Good knowledge and experience with simulation principles and processes, including interpretation, and application of results. Familiarity with Performance Design applications such as Autodesk Insight, Sefaira, and Ladybug tools.
• Good knowledge and experience in the use of VR walkthroughs and panoramas for client presentations, consultant coordination and internal design reviews.
