This position reports to the Technical Director

Job Responsibilities

Leadership & Team Management:

• Lead, mentor, and manage the design team, conducting performance reviews and identifying training needs. Foster a collaborative, creative environment and head a team of around 15 designers.

• Responsible for integrity of designs throughout the product realization period.

• Responsible for the delivery of project design packages within industry standards and beyond.

Design Process Management:

Capable of training and developing a team. Capable of spotting talent, nurturing creative minds. Maintain creative atmosphere, allowing questioning attitude.

Qualifications

• Mechanical engineering, mechatronics engineering,

• Specialization in pneumatics / hydraulics

• Manufacturing technology expertise.

• Qualification in electronics domain would be an advantage.

Knowledge

• Good knowledge about mechanical machines, link, cam, mechanisms.

• Understanding of logic building of automated machines

• Expertise in automated measurement with electronic transducers, like physical or optical means. Work timelines management, both at individual and team levels.

• Understanding of cost of project.

Skillset and Aptitude:

• Specialist level expertise in solid modelling - sufficiently skilled to train the team.

• Expert in root cause analysis tools like fishbone, why tree etc.

• Can lead FMEA at various levels.

• Expertise in Office tools set especially in excel spreadsheets.

• Draft up and lead operating manual formulation.

• Set up drafting procedures, train the team, manage documentation of procedures.

• Document control of the department documentation especially various design files of individual projects for manufacturing and archiving through the product cycle.

Intuitive with Mechanical Mechanisms that handle Industrial Automation Lines

Attitude:

Experience

• Experience of having headed a similarly sized team for at least three years after being at the designer level for minimum six years.

• Demonstrable results achieved in terms of time and cost.

• SPM experience of at least 5 years

• Total experience: 9-15 years
