Job Description

Role Overview: In this Design Engineer role at Caterpillar Inc., you will be contributing to regional and global engineering programs related to Brake & Friction Components. Your focus areas will include Plates & friction, Calipers, Brake Pads, Brake linings, thrust washers, and springs. Your main responsibilities will involve designing, developing, building, and implementing new component designs and technologies for these part families. Additionally, you will support the duties of a Global Design Control Delegate and work on various projects such as NPI, NTI, CPI, Design Maintenance, and NSI (Support) for these components. Key Responsibilities: - Design, develop, and implement new component designs and technologies for Brake & Friction Components in Transmission and Axles - Support the duties of a Global Design Control Delegate for the specified part families - Contribute to process FMEA for suppliers' manufacturing processes and audit process control implementation and effectiveness - Participate in Testing and Validation process, Test procedure and DVP&R preparation - Collaborate with suppliers to improve process capability and instil a Defect free culture within the supply base - Review and support APQP documentation and participate in 6 Sigma initiatives for continuous improvement - Identify and promote new technology opportunities for cost reductions and quality improvements Qualifications Required: - Bachelor's / Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Metallurgy with 12+ years of experience in design & development, engineering, quality & manufacturing - Proficiency in FEA Tools like Ansys, Abaqus, Creo Parametric or equivalent parametric Modelling Software, Siemens Teamcenter or equivalent PLM Software, and Microsoft Office 365 - Familiarity with PFMEAs, APQP, PPAP, and quality tools such as 8D, 5 Whys, SPC - Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings for manufacturing, component data, and specifications - Experience in engineering or manufacturing with knowledge of manufacturing processes used to produce drivetrain components and assemblies Role Overview: In this Design Engineer role at Caterpillar Inc., you will be contributing to regional and global engineering programs related to Brake & Friction Components.
