Deputy manager Costing Sheet Metal

Key Responsibilities : Develop and maintain combined costing models for sheet metal components along with forged and machined parts, considering material, process, tooling, and overhead elements. Create detailed should-cost and zero-based cost (ZBC) models using technical and commercial inputs. • Interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and BOMs to evaluate manufacturability and estimate accurate production costs. Analyze supplier quotations and breakdowns to identify cost gaps, process inefficiencies, and negotiation levers. Collaborate with Engineering, Sourcing, and Design teams to support design-to-cost (DTC) and value engineering (VE) efforts. • Evaluate and benchmark tooling requirements (progressive dies, jigs, fixtures, machining tools) and associated amortization strategies. • Assess manufacturing processes such as stamping, deep drawing, welding, forging (hot/cold), CNC machining, and surface treatments. • Monitor material and commodity trends (steel, aluminum, special alloys) to assess market impacts on cost structures. • Support sourcing and commercial teams in supplier negotiations using data-driven cost justifications. • Conduct supplier site visits and audits to validate cost assumptions and production methods . Required Qualifications: • Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related technical field. • 4+ years of experience in costing, manufacturing engineering, or sourcing within the automotive or EV industry. • Solid hands-on experience with sheet metal fabrication, forging, machining, and tooling processes. • Expertise in combined costing models, zero-based costing, and cost breakdown analysis. • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, CAD models, and tolerance specifications. • Proficient in Excel-based cost modeling and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle). • Strong analytical, technical, and communication skills to collaborate across teams and suppliers.
