Manager-Business Development- Defence Sector Job Title: Manager-Business Development Location: Hyderabad Company Name:Walchandnagar Industries Limited Department: Business Development Reporting To: VP Business Development Job Summary: We are seeking a dynamic results driven Manager Business Development to lead and grow our business in the Indian defense sector. The ideal candidate will be responsible for identifying and developing business opportunities with both private and government defense customers, including the DRDO, DPSUs, and private defense OEMs. The role involves strategic planning, developing strong industry connections, customer relationship management, tender participation, and ability to navigate complex procurement cycles to generate long-term value aligned with organizational goals. Key Responsibilities: Develop and execute a comprehensive business development strategy targeting the Indian defense sector (private and public). Build strong relationships with key stakeholders in MoD, DRDO, DPSUs (HAL, BEL, BEML, BDL etc.), and the private defense OEMs. Track and analyze defense procurement plans, RFPs, EOIs, RFIs, and align company offerings accordingly. Lead the end-to-end pursuit process from lead generation to proposal submission and contract negotiation . Collaborate with engineering, production, and project teams to tailor offerings to customer requirements. Develop and maintain a strong pipeline of projects and provide accurate business forecasts. Represent the company at defense expos, trade shows, and industry events. Identify partnership or JV opportunities with global OEMs to enhance our defense offerings. Ensure compliance with defense procurement policies Monitor competitor activities and market trends to refine go-to-market strategies. Qualifications and Experience: Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical/Electronics preferred); MBA is an added advantage. 812 years of experience in business development, sales, or strategic partnerships in the Indian defense sector. Thorough understanding of Indian defense procurement procedures, especially DPP/DAP 2020, and relevant government policies. Proven track record of closing high-value defense contracts and long-cycle business engagements. Strong interpersonal skills and a proven ability to build relationships at senior levels in both public and private sectors. Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills. Ability to work independently and travel extensively across India.

Job Title: Procurement Manager Defence Projects Department: Procurement / Supply Chain Location: Hyderabad Reporting To: Head Supply Chain / Defence Project Director Experience Required: Minimum 5 years in procurement, preferably in the Defence or aerospace sector Job Purpose: To lead and manage procurement activities for defence-related projects, with a focus on electro-mechanical and missile system components. The role requires strong technical and commercial acumen, experience in defence procurement procedures, and the ability to ensure timely, cost-effective, and compliant sourcing. Key Responsibilities: Oversee end-to-end procurement processes for defence and aerospace components, especially electro-mechanical assemblies and missile sub-systems. Review technical specifications and align procurement strategy accordingly. Identify, evaluate, and onboard defence-approved vendors; maintain vendor compliance and performance records. Negotiate contracts, pricing, delivery schedules, and other commercial terms. Ensure procurement activities adhere to MoD/DPSU requirements, government procurement norms, and quality standards. Coordinate closely with R&D, engineering, and quality assurance teams to support project needs. Manage risk in the supply chain, including alternate sourcing and inventory planning for critical parts. Maintain detailed procurement records, ensuring readiness for audits, inspections, and documentation reviews. Liaise with regulatory bodies for compliance on import/export controls, SCOMET, or DGFT clearances if needed. Qualifications: Education: B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering or Electronics Graduate in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering Experience: Minimum of 5 years experience in procurement, preferably within the defence, aerospace, or high-tech engineering sectors. Required Skills: Sound understanding of defence procurement processes (e.g., DAP, DPP) Technical knowledge of mechanical and electro-mechanical systems Strong negotiation and vendor management skills Familiarity with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, etc.) Knowledge of applicable quality standards (ISO, AS9100, MIL specs) Excellent communication, documentation, and coordination abilities Preferred (Desirable): Experience in missile system procurement or equivalent high-value defence systems Understanding of government e-procurement portals and vendor registration (e.g., GeM, DRDO, HAL, etc.) Certifications in supply chain management (CSCP, CPSM) or project management (PMP)

Preferred candidate profile Bachelors degree in engineering, Electronics, or Business. 3-5 years of experience in defence sales, business development, or tech consulting preferred. Familiarity with Indian Defence Procurement Procedure (DPP) and make in India / iDEX initiatives is a strong plus. Strong interpersonal, negotiation, and presentation skills. Ability to understand technical products and communicate them to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Willingness to travel for meetings, demos, and defence events.
