Job Summary:

The Academic Dean plays a pivotal leadership role in ensuring academic excellence, curriculum implementation, faculty development, and student achievement in accordance with CBSE (Central Board of Secondary Education) guidelines. The Academic Dean works closely with school leadership, teachers, students, and parents to foster a positive and progressive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Academic Leadership:

  • Oversee the academic programs and ensure alignment with CBSE curriculum and assessment frameworks.
  • Design, implement, and monitor academic plans, yearly calendars, and schedules.
  • Ensure effective implementation of teaching strategies, pedagogies, and assessment methods.

Curriculum Management:

  • Review, develop, and enhance curriculum in line with CBSE norms and school vision.
  • Organize and oversee integration of NEP 2020 guidelines into academic planning.
  • Facilitate interdisciplinary and experiential learning approaches.

Faculty Development:

  • Lead the recruitment, orientation, and professional development of teaching staff.
  • Conduct regular teacher evaluations, classroom observations, and performance reviews.
  • Organize workshops, training sessions, and capacity-building programs for educators.

Student Development & Academic Monitoring:

  • Monitor student performance data to identify trends, strengths, and areas for improvement.
  • Design and implement academic support and enrichment programs.
  • Collaborate with counselors and coordinators for student well-being and guidance.

Compliance & Documentation:

  • Ensure all CBSE-related documentation, records, and compliance requirements are up to date.
  • Coordinate with CBSE authorities during inspections, audits, and affiliation processes.
  • Maintain and analyze academic data, reports, and performance metrics.

Stakeholder Communication:

  • Maintain regular communication with parents, students, and faculty regarding academic progress and school initiatives.
  • Represent the academic department in school management meetings.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Masters Degree in Education or relevant subject area (M.Ed./ MA / MSc preferred).
  • B.Ed. is mandatory.
  • Minimum 8–10 years of teaching experience with at least 3–5 years in an academic leadership role (e.g., Coordinator, HOD, Vice Principal).
  • In-depth understanding of CBSE curriculum, NEP 2020, and affiliated school operations.
  • Excellent leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in using academic management tools, digital classrooms, and data analysis software.
