DC-DC Converter Design Engineer

Job Title:

• Independently

  design, develop, and validate

  DC-DC converter topologies for high-power UPS systems.
• Evaluate and select suitable topologies such as

  Phase-Shifted Full Bridge, Dual Active Bridge (DAB), LLC Resonant, Interleaved Buck/Boost

  , etc.
• Perform detailed

  device calculations and selection

  for power semiconductors (IGBTs, SiC MOSFETs, diodes) including switching loss, conduction loss, and SOA verification.
• Carry out

  converter-level design calculations

  : current/voltage stress, transformer turns ratio, duty cycle, ripple, snubber sizing, and gate driver requirements.
• Conduct

  simulation and modeling

  using

  MATLAB/Simulink

  ,

  PSIM

  , or

  PLECS

  to verify transient, control, and steady-state performance.
• Design and validate

  gate driver circuits

  ,

  current sensing

  ,

  snubber networks

  , and

  protection schemes

  .
• Optimize

  switching frequency

  ,

  magnetic design

  , and

  layout parasitics

  for maximum efficiency and thermal performance.
• Work jointly with

  magnetic and thermal design engineers

  to ensure complete converter optimization.
• Perform

  hardware prototype development

  ,

  double-pulse testing

  , and

  efficiency validation

  under different load and input conditions.
• Correlate

  simulation results with hardware test data

  , ensuring accurate performance predictions.
• Independently

  plan and execute converter validation and certification process

  , ensuring compliance with IEC/UL and internal standards.
• Prepare detailed

  design documents, test reports, and BOMs

  for prototype and production stages.
• Support

  reliability improvement and design optimization

  based on validation feedback.

Required Qualifications & Skills:

• B.E./B.Tech./M.E./M.Tech.

  in Electrical or Electronics Engineering (specialization in Power Electronics preferred).

• 57 years of experience

  in

  DC-DC converter design, testing, and validation

  for UPS or similar high-power systems.
• Deep understanding of

  converter topologies

  ,

  soft-switching principles

  , and

  control strategies

  .
• Proficiency in

  MATLAB/Simulink

  ,

  PSIM

  , or

  PLECS

  for system simulation and loss modeling.
• Experience in

  device selection and calculation

  for IGBT/SiC devices (voltage/current rating, switching speed, and loss trade-offs).
• Strong knowledge of

  gate driver design

  ,

  snubber design

  , and

  PCB layout techniques

  for high-frequency converters.
• Practical hands-on experience in

  hardware validation

  ,

  efficiency testing

  thermal measurement

• Awareness of

  EMI/EMC considerations

  and coordination with filter design.

  IEC/UL safety and performance standards

  for power electronics systems.
• Ability to

• Experience in
