Database Engineer

As a Database Engineer at our company, you will play a crucial role in designing, optimizing, and maintaining PostgreSQL databases to ensure scalability, security, and performance. Key Responsibilities: - Design, implement, and optimize PostgreSQL databases for scalability, security, and performance. - Develop and maintain complex SQL queries, procedures, views, and triggers to meet application requirements. - Write Python or SQL scripts for database automation, ETL processes, and data validation. - Collaborate with product, engineering, and DevOps teams to define database strategies and data models. - Support data migration activities by mapping, transforming, and validating legacy data for new portals/products. - Ensure high availability, backup/recovery, and disaster recovery strategies for database environments. - Monitor and tune performance using database metrics, indexing strategies, and query optimization. - Deploy and manage databases in AWS environments (Postgres, S3, etc.). - Ensure compliance with security, privacy, and regulatory standards in handling sensitive data. Required Qualifications: - Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field. - 3 to 5 years of professional experience as a Database Engineer. - Strong knowledge of SQL (PostgreSQL preferred) with proven ability to optimize queries and schema design. - Hands-on experience with Python for database scripting and automation. - Good understanding of data modeling, normalization, and relational database design principles. - Experience in performance tuning (indexes, partitions, query optimization). - Exposure to AWS database services (RDS for PostgreSQL, EC2, S3, IAM, and VPC).
