Database Developer

Role & responsibilities

Design stable, reliable and effective databases

• Optimize and maintain legacy systems
• Modify databases according to requests and perform tests
• Liaise with developers to improve applications and establish best practices
• Gather user requirements and identify new features
• Develop technical and training manuals
• Provide data management support to users
• Ensure all database programs meet company and performance requirements
• Research and suggest new database products, services and protocols • Providing inputs into the underlying systems for service improvement; engaging with providers for any issues faced.
• Escalating issues that are open or not resolved within the predefined timeframe.

Required Skills of the candidate:

• Spark, redshift, Python, Database Development, T/SQL, Unix, Perl, Shell, PySpark, Hadoop/Spark.

• Strong in scripting language like Unix/K-Shell

• Hands on experience with T/SQL with expertise in MS SQL Server internals, system tables and databases

• Hands on experience with Cloud based databases, migration of databases from one platform to another (SQL to NoSQL)

• Knowledge of Software Development Cycle

• Excellent analytical and organization skills

• An ability to understand back-end requirements and a problem-solving attitude

• Thorough knowledge on working of indexes, types of indexes, and indexing algorithms

• Experience in architecting, optimizing, and maintaining large databases
