Database Administrator - MySQL Developer

The Opportunity:
We are seeking a highly skilled Database Developer & Administrator to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in database management, including backup management, query optimization, and performance tuning. This role will focus on both Relational and NoSQL databases, with strong emphasis on MySQL.Required Skills & Experience: AccountabilityAs the Database Administrator, you will be responsible for ensuring high availability, reliability, and security of MySQL databases. Backup Management through safeguarding data through effective backup and recovery strategies.Improving query performance for faster data retrieval & sustaining optimal performance of the database environment.Creating scalable and normalized database structures aligned with business needs. seamless operation of databases in cloud environments & minimizing database downtime and resolving issues swiftly.ScopeAct as the subject matter expert (SME) for MySQL database systems.Collaborate with software developers, system administrators, and DevOps teams to align database solutions with business goals.Document database architectures, procedures, and change logs.Ensure database systems comply with organizational security policies and data privacy regulations.Contribute to capacity planning and database scaling strategies.Stay updated with MySQL advancements, patches, and best practices.OutcomesManaging and maintaining the MySQL database infrastructure by monitoring database systems and proactively addressing issues to prevent downtime.Design and implement backup strategies to safeguard data and test backup and recovery plans to ensure business continuity in case of failures.Work closely with developers to improve query efficiency and reduce load on servers.Tune system configurations, indexes, and queries to ensure high-speed transactions and minimal latency.Collaborate with development teams to design scalable and efficient data storage structures along with creation and update of database schemas, ensuring normalization and referential integrity.

Qualifications:
Education: Bachelors or masters degree in computer science or a related field.

Experience:
o Minimum of 5 years of extensive experience with relational databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL, etc.).o Strong expertise in SQL and query performance tuningo Experience with object-oriented databases, and Solid knowledge of MySQL administration and optimization.o Cloud experience with AWS and RDS.Skills & Competencies:o Strong expertise in SQL and query performance tuning.o Experience in database backup and restore management.o Experience with database replication and high-availability setupsPersonal Attributes:o Strong communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.o Results-driven with a focus on measurable outcomes and long-term growth.
