Database Administrator - MS SQL

Job Description

Position Summary : - As an MS SQL Database Administrator, you will be responsible for maintaining Database Servers and optimization, tuning databases for high performance, scalability, and reliability. - You need experience with SQL Server Performance tuning, indexing, Query optimization and database design. This role requires strong technical and collaboration skills to work with different teams to improve the performance of the databases. Responsibilities : - Manage SQL Server instances, including installation, configuration, patching, database creation, backups and restores - Ensure high availability, scalability, and performance of database servers - Monitor SQL Server health and performance using tools different Performance Monitor, Extended Events, DVM - Expert in designing SQL server indexes, Statistics and performing database maintenance tasks - Expert in Database Recovery Process - Expert in troubleshooting SQL Servers errors and, blocking, deadlocks, slow performance, high resource utilization, network and storage issues - Expert in analyzing the Execution Plans, and refactoring the queries to optimize for high performance - Expert in plan and implement database capacity upgrades, scaling, and migration to meet growing business needs - Manage user access, permissions, and roles, implement Audit process and compliances as per the requirements - Review Database code of SQL Server Developers and guide them for query tuning optimization Desired Skills & Experience Requirement : - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field - At least 12 years of experience in MS SQL Server Database administration - In-depth knowledge of SQL Server architecture, internals, and performance tuning techniques - Strong T-SQL Skills for query optimizations and performance - Experience with at least SQL Server versions from SQL Server 2022/2019/2016/2014 - Strong knowledge of Windows Failover Cluster Server and SQL Server Always On - Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and analytical abilities - Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment - Certification in MS SQL Server Administration Nice to Have : - Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field - Knowledge of an additional DBMS product like MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB etc. is an advantage - Experience with cloud platforms like Azure will be a plus - Experience in SSIS/SSRS/SSAS will be a plus - Experience with scripting languages such as PowerShell/Python - Familiarity with agile project management tools such as Jira, Confluence
