Role Overview Description

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain ETL/data pipelines integrating data from Shopify, Odoo, GA, and other internal/external systems.
• Design and optimize data models for analytics and data science use cases.
• Write efficient Python and SQL scripts for data extraction, transformation, and validation.
• Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and timeliness across systems.
• Collaborate with business and analytics teams to define data requirements and automate recurring data workflows.
• Monitor and troubleshoot pipeline performance and implement logging/error-handling mechanisms.

Requirements

• 24 years of experience in data engineering or a related role.
• Strong skills in Python (for ETL scripting and API integrations).
• Advanced SQL proficiency for querying, transformations, and optimization.
• Hands-on experience with Google Analytics (GA4) and its data export mechanisms (BigQuery, APIs, etc.).
• Familiarity with Odoo, Shopify, or other SaaS data sources and their APIs.
• Experience with workflow orchestration tools (Airflow, Prefect, or similar).
• Understanding of data warehouse design, cloud storage (S3/BigQuery), and version control (Git).

What your first 30/60/90 days will look like?

a. First 30 Days - Learn & Connect

• Deeply understand our data ecosystem - Shopify, Odoo, GA, and internal databases.
• Get access to existing ETL pipelines, scripts, and dashboards.
• Familiarize yourself with schema structures, naming conventions, and current pain points in data accuracy or latency.
• Gain an understanding of how current data / reports supports business decisions.

b. Next 30 Days - Build & Improve

• Start owning a set of ETL jobs (Python- or SQL-based) and optimize them for speed and reliability.
• Build automated data validation checks and alerting for broken pipelines.
• Contribute to the design of unified data models across multiple systems (e.g., Shopify order + Odoo inventory + GA traffic).
• Deliver your first production-ready data pipeline or scheduled report.

c. Next 30 Days - Scale & Automate

• Own end-to-end delivery of critical data pipelines and orchestrate them using Airflow/Prefect.
• Implement version control and documentation standards for all data workflows.
• Partner with analytics teams to roll out new datasets or dashboards that improve business visibility.
• Identify opportunities for automation or migration to cloud-based data infrastructure (e.g., BigQuery).

Core KPIs for This Role

• Data Latency: Average data latency across key sources and data pipelines
• Data Accuracy: Error rate in reconciled datasets
• Automation Coverage: % of manual data tasks automated within 90 days.
• Stakeholder Satisfaction: Internal feedback from analytics and business teams on data availability and quality.

Good to Have

• Exposure to BI tools like Metabase, Power BI, or Looker.
• Experience working with marketing and ecommerce analytics data.
