Role & responsibilities

Role Purpose

The Data Engineer will be responsible for developing and maintaining ADA (Analytical Data Architecture) solutions that support the Personal Bank Reporting teams. This role requires a strong technical foundation in data engineering, with a focus on building scalable, efficient data pipelines and enabling high-quality reporting and analytics.

The successful candidate will:

• Apply

  to solve complex data challenges, identify root causes, and propose innovative solutions that improve data quality and reporting outcomes.
• Design, build, and optimise

  ETL processes

  and ADA data pipelines using

  SQL

  ,

  Python

  , and the

  Databricks platform

  , ensuring robustness, scalability, and performance.
• Develop and maintain

  data models

  that support reporting and analytics use cases, ensuring alignment with enterprise data architecture standards.
• Work with large and complex data sets, ensuring data quality, consistency, and performance.
• Collaborate with end users to gather requirements, explain data concepts, and deliver solutions that meet business needs.
• Communicate effectively with stakeholders across PB Data analytics teams
• Build strong relationships across teams to ensure alignment and shared understanding of data flows and reporting objectives.
• Document data processes, definitions, and architecture to support transparency and maintainability.
• Apply a

  detail-oriented approach

  to data validation, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement.

Preferred candidate profile

Key Capabilities and Skills

• Advanced proficiency in

  SQL

  and

  Python

  for data engineering tasks.
• Strong understanding of

  ETL frameworks

  data modelling

  data architecture

  principles.
• Hands-on experience with

  Databricks

  and cloud-based data platforms (e.g., Azure, AWS, GCP).
• Ability to explain complex data concepts in simple terms to diverse audiences.
• Excellent

• Proven ability to work collaboratively across functions and build effective working relationships.
• High attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy.
• Strong analytical and

  skills to assess data issues and propose effective solutions.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in data engineering or a similar role.
• Experience working in financial services or banking environments is advantageous.
