Data Engineer- Data modeler

Job Type: C2H (Contract to Hire)

As a Data Modeler, you will be a central figure in our innovative team, responsible for designing and defining the data structures that empower our entire organization. You will translate complex business requirements into clear and efficient conceptual, logical, and physical data models for our new healthcare company's data warehouse and analytics platforms. Your work will be the essential blueprint for how we store, consume, and understand our data, ensuring that it is accurate, consistent, and structured to generate actionable business insights.

Core Responsibilities: (essential job duties and responsibilities)

• Design, develop, and maintain conceptual, logical, and physical data models using industry best practices and methodologies (e.g., Inmon, Kimball, Data Vault).
• Collaborate directly with business stakeholders, analysts, and subject matter experts to gather, analyze, and translate business requirements into detailed data definitions and structures.
• Develop and maintain a comprehensive data dictionary and metadata repository to document data lineages, definitions, and business rules.
• Work closely with Data Engineers to ensure that the data models are implemented accurately in the physical database (Snowflake) and that ETL processes align with the model's design.
• Establish and enforce data modeling standards and best practices to ensure consistency and quality across all data assets.
• Perform data analysis and write complex SQL queries to profile source systems, validate data, and ensure model integrity.
• Support the evolution of the data warehouse by adapting and extending data models to meet new and changing business needs.

Required Skills and Experiences:

• Deep expertise in data modeling methodologies and a proven track record of designing and implementing large-scale data models for data warehousing and analytics.
• Advanced SQL skills for data profiling, analysis, and validation.
• Hands-on experience with data modeling tools.
• A strong understanding of data warehousing architecture, ETL/ELT processes, and business intelligence concepts.
• Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to deconstruct complex business processes into clear data requirements.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to facilitate discussions between business and technical teams.
• Meticulous attention to detail and a passion for creating well-organized, thoroughly documented work.

Minimum Qualifications:

• 6+ years of dedicated experience in a Data Modeler or Data Architect role.
• 4+ years of experience working directly with business users to define and document requirements.
• 4+ years of experience modeling for a major database or cloud data warehouse (Snowflake, Databricks, AWS, AZURE).
• 2+ years of experience creating and managing both logical and physical data models for ERPs (SAP S4, MS Dynamics, BPCS, A+, etc)

Nice to Have:

• Experience with data governance and master data management (MDM).
• Familiarity with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
• Knowledge of scripting languages (e.g., Python)

Education:

• Bachelors in computer science, Information Systems, Engineering, science discipline, or similar
