CSSD Technician

The CSSD Technician is responsible for the cleaning, disinfection, sterilization, and distribution of medical and surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies within the hospital. The role ensures that all sterilization procedures are performed in accordance with hospital policies and infection control standards to maintain patient safety and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

• Receive, inspect, and record used instruments and equipment from various hospital departments.
• Clean, disinfect, pack, and sterilize surgical instruments and other reusable medical devices as per established protocols.
• Operate and maintain autoclaves, ultrasonic cleaners, and other sterilization equipment.
• Monitor sterilization parameters (time, temperature, pressure) and maintain related documentation.
• Label, store, and distribute sterilized items to the respective hospital units and maintain accurate inventory records.
• Ensure proper handling and disposal of contaminated materials in compliance with infection control and safety guidelines.
• Conduct routine checks to ensure sterilization equipment is functioning properly; report malfunctions or repairs needed.
• Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of the CSSD area at all times.
• Assist in training and orientation of new staff members in CSSD procedures, if required.
• Comply with all hospital policies, infection control standards, and occupational safety protocols.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Educational Qualification: Diploma in Medical Sterilization Technology / CSSD Technician Course / B.Sc. in Microbiology or relevant field.
• Experience: Minimum 1–3 years of experience in a hospital CSSD or similar environment preferred.
• Knowledge: Familiar with sterilization techniques, infection control protocols, and operation of sterilization equipment.
