COST ENGINEER

As a Cost Engineer at Woodward, Inc., your primary role will involve supporting the cost impact and direction of both existing and new product designs. You will utilize your wealth of manufacturing process and design knowledge to influence product design based on cost analysis. Your responsibilities will include: - Interfacing with engineering, purchasing, manufacturing, and assembly to communicate design to cost bill of material structure, cost requirements, and necessary actions - Performing cost analysis to identify potential cost reductions and recommend changes - Participating in project meetings and reviews, including PLC Gate meetings - Providing product cost data to Sourcing/Engineering/Manufacturing as needed - Collaborating with designers and manufacturers to achieve desired cost objectives - Participating in cost reduction programs and updating management on project status - Supporting company-wide Should Cost modeling program implementation You will also be expected to: - Provide direction for managing, reducing, or controlling product costs based on data analysis and process knowledge - Support the development and execution of One Woodward processes, Continuous Improvement activities, and lean projects - Enhance costing and analysis tools and documentation guidelines - Provide product cost-related training to other Woodward members Additionally, you should possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities: - Ability to read and understand engineering drawings and Bills of Material - Good understanding of manufacturing processes and basic use of DFSS tools - General knowledge of cost accounting practices and reporting systems - Basic project management skills and proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel - Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization - Capability to determine product target cost projections through data mining and sound judgment - Proficiency in organizing and prioritizing multiple tasks - Basic understanding and experience with supplier negotiations - Knowledge of Casting/Forging and Machining operations Qualifications required for this role include: - Education: Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical) - Experience: Related field experience in Manufacturing, Manufacturing Engineering, Purchasing, or Engineering - Certification: Continuous Improvement certification (Lean, Green Belt, Black Belt, etc.) If you are looking to join a team where you can apply your expertise in cost engineering to drive impactful cost reductions and contribute to the success of new product designs, this position at Woodward, Inc. may be the perfect fit for you.,
