Description
As a Commodity Sourcing Buyer at our company, you will play a crucial role in implementing and executing local procurement strategies in alignment with global commodity strategies. Reporting to the India Sourcing Manager, your primary responsibility will involve managing core commodities to ensure cost-effectiveness, quality, and timely delivery. By conducting zero-base costing and Total Cost of Acquisition (TCA) analysis, you will contribute to delivering year-on-year cost reduction. Your duties will include monitoring key commodities price trends, conducting market analysis to identify new sourcing opportunities, and negotiating contracts and pricing agreements with suppliers to secure the best terms. Building and maintaining strong relationships with local suppliers will be essential to ensure reliable supply and best value. You will collaborate closely with the Global Procurement and Commodity teams to align local activities with global objectives. To be successful in this role, you should hold a Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Economics, Engineering, or a related field, along with a minimum of 5 years of experience in procurement, sourcing, and commodity management. Strong experience in sourcing key mechanical commodities such as castings, forgings, machined, and formed metals is preferred. Additionally, technical/engineering/quality experience or qualification, or a strong understanding in relation to sourcing commodity parts, is desirable. Your expertise in managing supplier relationships, negotiating contracts, and understanding local and global market dynamics will be critical. You should possess excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, along with strong written and verbal communication abilities in English. Experience in working within a matrix organization, proficiency in ERP & MRP systems, ideally Oracle JD Edwards, and knowledge of procurement software and Microsoft Office Suite are also required. Furthermore, preferred qualifications include a professional certification such as CIPS (Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply), experience in the manufacturing or industrial sector, and familiarity with a global procurement environment. Project management qualification/experience and manufacturing or electrical engineering certification are considered beneficial for this role.
