Job Description

Job Purpose

To assist in the preparation, cooking, and presentation of high-quality dishes in the assigned section (Indian, Continental, or Tandoor), while maintaining the hotel’s standards of hygiene, safety, and quality.

Key Responsibilities

  • Food Preparation & Cooking
  • Prepare mise-en-place and cook dishes as per standard recipes and instructions.
  • Handle Indian, Continental, or Tandoor cooking depending on section allocation.
  • Ensure proper portion control, consistency, and presentation of dishes.
  • Support senior chefs in menu planning, special events, and banquets.
  • Kitchen Operations
  • Follow instructions from the Chef de Partie and Sous Chef.
  • Ensure that all ingredients are fresh, properly stored, and used within shelf life.
  • Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of workstations and kitchen equipment.
  • Assist in receiving, checking, and storing kitchen supplies.
  • Standards & Compliance
  • Adhere to hotel’s food safety and HACCP standards.
  • Comply with hygiene, grooming, and safety protocols at all times.
  • Minimize wastage by practicing proper handling and storage of ingredients.
  • Teamwork & Development
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues across different kitchen sections.
  • Provide support and guidance to Commis II, Commis III, and trainees.
  • Participate in training sessions to enhance skills in culinary techniques and cuisines.

Requirements

  • Education: Diploma / Certification in Hotel Management / Culinary Arts.
  • Experience:
  • 1–3 years’ experience as Commis in a star category hotel or reputed restaurant.
  • Specialization in Indian, Continental, or Tandoor section preferred.
  • Skills & Competencies:
  • Strong knowledge of culinary techniques and food presentation.
  • Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple orders.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: ₹6,500.00 - ₹25,000.00 per month
