Cognos Developer

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deploy

  Cognos reports, dashboards, and scorecards

  using Cognos Analytics (Report Studio, Workspace, Dashboarding, Query Studio).
• Develop and maintain

  Cognos Framework Manager models

  , including relational and dimensional modeling.
• Collaborate with business users and analysts to

  gather reporting requirements

  and translate them into efficient BI solutions.
• Create and maintain

  packages, cubes, and metadata models

  to support business reporting.
• Optimize reports for performance and ensure scalability for large datasets.
  
• Manage

  security, user access, and data governance

  within Cognos environments.
• Integrate Cognos with other tools or data sources (e.g., SQL Server, Oracle, Snowflake, Azure Synapse, etc.).
  
• Troubleshoot and resolve report-related or data-related issues.
  
• Support

  migrations and upgrades

  of Cognos versions or environments.
• Participate in

  UAT, performance testing

  , and deployment cycles.

Required Skills

• Strong expertise in

  IBM Cognos Analytics (11.x or later)

  Report Studio, Query Studio, Framework Manager, and Analysis Studio.
• Solid understanding of

  data warehousing concepts (ETL, star schema, snowflake schema)

  .
• Proficiency in

  SQL

  and working with databases such as Oracle, SQL Server, or DB2.
• Experience in

  Cognos security administration

  and multi-environment setup.
• Exposure to

  Cognos Transformer / Dynamic Cubes

  is a plus.
• Ability to work with business and technical teams for end-to-end BI delivery.
  
• Excellent problem-solving, debugging, and analytical skills.
  
• Strong communication and documentation abilities.
  

Preferred Skills

• Experience in

  Cognos to Power BI / Tableau migration projects

  .
• Knowledge of

  Python, REST APIs, or scripting for automation

  .
• Familiarity with

  cloud-based BI deployments (Azure)

  .
• Exposure to

  Agile/Scrum

  methodologies.

Educational Qualification

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in

  Computer Science, Information Technology, or related discipline

  .
• IBM Cognos Developer Certification preferred (but not mandatory).
