Job Description: CNC Operator – Wood IndustryPosition: CNC Operator

Department: Production / ManufacturingIndustry: Wood / Furniture / Interior Fit-OutReporting To: Production Manager / Factory Supervisor

1. Job Summary

The CNC Operator is responsible for operating and maintaining CNC woodworking machines (CNC Router, Nesting Machine, Edge Bander, Beam Saw, etc.) to produce high-quality wooden components as per drawings, cutting lists, and production schedules. The role ensures accuracy, quality, and efficient machine operation.

2. Key ResponsibilitiesMachine Operation

  • Operate CNC router / nesting machines for cutting, grooving, drilling, and shaping wooden panels.
  • Load the correct program into the CNC system using software (e.g., SketchUp/Pytha/AutoCAD CAM output).
  • Set tools, calibrate machines, and ensure correct tool selection.

Production & Quality

  • Read and understand technical drawings, cutting lists, and job orders.
  • Ensure accuracy of dimensions, edges, and finishes.
  • Check materials (plywood, MDF, particle board, laminates) before processing.
  • Conduct first-piece inspection and record measurements.
  • Minimize material wastage and optimize sheet utilization.

Machine Maintenance

  • Perform daily/weekly machine cleaning and basic preventive maintenance.
  • Report any mechanical, electrical, or software issues immediately to maintenance.
  • Ensure proper tool maintenance (bits, blades, collets).

Safety & Documentation

  • Follow all factory safety guidelines and use PPE.
  • Maintain production logs, machine output reports, and tool usage records.
  • Ensure proper labeling and stacking of finished components.

3. Required Skills & Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of CNC router/nesting machines for woodworking.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings.
  • Basic understanding of G-code / CNC programming (added advantage).
  • Knowledge of wood materials, laminates, and cutting directions.
  • Attention to detail and quality-focused mindset.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment.

4. Education & Experience

  • ITI / Diploma in Wood Technology / Mechanical or related field preferred.
  • 1–5 years of experience operating CNC machines in wood or furniture manufacturing.
  • Experience with CNC brands like Biesse, Homag, Felder, SCM, or local routers is an advantage.

5. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

  • Accuracy of cuts and error-free production.
  • Material wastage levels.
  • Machine uptime and productivity.
  • Quality compliance and fewer reworks.
  • Adherence to safety and maintenance schedules.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: ₹25,000.00 - ₹35,000.00 per month
