CMS Lead (episerver/optimizely)

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced CMS Lead Developer to lead the design, development, and implementation of enterprise-level content management solutions. The ideal candidate should have deep technical expertise in Optimizely (Episerver), and along with a strong understanding of architectural principles, CMS best practices, and digital experience platforms. The role involves leadership, hands-on development, stakeholder communication, and mentoring a cross-functional team of developers.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the technical design and implementation of CMS solutions using Optimizely .

• Architect scalable and maintainable solutions aligned with business and digital marketing goals.

• Collaborate with business analysts, UI/UX designers, marketers, and QA teams to translate business requirements into robust CMS features.

• Ensure CMS configurations and custom code adhere to best practices, including performance, security, and SEO.

• Guide the migration and integration of legacy CMS platforms to modern headless or hybrid CMS models.

• Lead code reviews, enforce development standards, and mentor junior/mid-level developers.

• Integrate third-party services, personalization engines, search platforms, and analytics tools.

• Troubleshoot complex issues across environments and perform root cause analysis.

• Stay up to date with latest CMS trends, tools, and technologies.

• Ensure content governance, versioning, and workflow processes are well-defined and implemented.

• Support DevOps and CI/CD processes for CMS deployments.

• Document architecture and development decisions thoroughly.

Technical Skills

• 10+ years of professional development experience, with a strong focus on .NET-based CMS platforms.

• Proven expertise in Optimizely (Episerver) CMS

• Strong experience with C#, ASP.NET MVC/Core, Razor Views, and RESTful APIs.

• Knowledge of headless CMS implementation, decoupled architecture, and JAMstack concepts.

• Solid understanding of SQL Server, Azure, and cloud hosting for CMS applications.

• Experience integrating CMS with CRM, Marketing Automation, Search Engines (e.g., Azure Search, Elastic), and CDNs.

• Familiarity with frontend frameworks like Angular, React, or Vue (bonus).

• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, Azure DevOps, Git, and automated deployments.

• Excellent communication skills and the ability to interact with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Soft Skills

• Detail-oriented with a strong focus on user experience and Web App stability.

• Strong verbal and written communication abilities.

• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a cross-functional team.

Certified developer in one or more of the following:

• Optimizely Certified Developer

• Knowledge of GDPR, WCAG accessibility standards, and SEO optimization within CMS environments.

• Experience leading Agile/Scrum teams and working with Product Owners/Marketing stakeholders.

• Exposure to personalization, A/B testing, multilingual content, and multi-site setups.
