Cloud Economics Analyst / FinOps Engineer

to prioritize ongoing optimization of cloud costs, to make sure Clients are getting maximum value for minimal spend

Candidate will work on implementation of Economics process. This role will serve as primary subject matter expert (SME) of public cloud platforms from (Azure/AWS/GCP) and perform Cloud cost assessment and periodic optimization of cloud expenses

Economics cloud commercial officer will focus on implementing multiple cost optimization process, cost monitoring, reporting, tracking and optimizing on regular bases

Role & Responsibilities

Leading the development of cloud Economics services on (Azure/AWS/GCP), operating model, operating models for cloud operating environment, which may include

• Overall responsibility for proactively monitoring the budgets and costs of cloud platform in support of satisfying the best possible outcome for different environment.
• Determine and predict budgets associated with current and future cloud workloads
• Review cloud utilization and make recommendation on licensing and subscription models pay as per use, reserved instance strategy and proposed discounts for optimization
• Generate standard reportings and complete ad-hoc analyses designed to monitor cloud costs, security, usage, and identify inconsistent consumption against expected models.
• Drive awareness of cost trending, and provide these reports to each respective team consuming cloud service to encourage engagement
• Present cost analysis to executive leadership on a daily, weekly, monthly basis as required
• Implement governance standards, including resource tagging, account structure, provision, permission and access and auto shutdown policies
• Configure and monitoring alerting processes on our cloud platform relating to budgets and thresholds in costs and detect unexpected spikes in consumption in near real-time
• Conduct monthly cross-organisational meetings with engineering and finance to identify and action potential cost optimization
• Support development teams and platform engineers to implement optimization recommendations on their cloud resources.

Experience/Qualifications

Economics(FinOps) certified candidate will have advance degree in computer science or related field

experience developing in cloud native solutions, knowledge of cloud platforms like (Azure/AWS/GCP), One or more cloud provider certifications like Azure DevOps/AWS

Desired Candidate:

• An excellent understanding and practical experience in the role of cloud cost optimization
• A minimum 3 years of experience in the role of cloud cost optimization in a similar organisation ideally in leadership position
• Knowledge of major cloud providers including cloud architecture, networking, cloud security concepts and knowledge on cloud best practices with 2 years of experience in at least one cloud provider
• Excellent understanding and practical experience of major cloud providers consumption and pricing options, cost principles, cost drivers and licensing
• Good financial background e.g., Creating ROI, TCO and cost optimization strategies
• Experience in creating reports in PowerBI, Excel and or cloud-native costing tools, strong MS office experience will be added advantage
