Civil & Structural Designer

Role & responsibilities

1. Structural Modeling & Detailing

• Develop, modify, and manage

  3D structural models

  using Revit Structure for industrial facilities (pipe racks, equipment foundations, tank farms, substations, buildings, platforms, etc.).
• Produce detailed

  GA drawings, reinforcement detailing, shop drawings, fabrication drawings

  , and schedules.
• Create structural

  steel and concrete models

  , including connections, embeds, anchor bolts, rebar, grating, ladders, and handrails.

2. BIM Execution & Coordination

• Implement and maintain

  BIM Execution Plans (BEP)

  and project standards specific to the Oil & Gas sector.
• Lead or support

  multi-discipline coordination

  (civil, piping, mechanical, E&I) using Revit, Navisworks, or BIM 360.
• Conduct

  clash detection

  , resolve design conflicts, and propose constructible solutions.

3. Standards, Compliance & Quality Control

• Ensure models and drawings comply with

  industry codes

  (e.g., ACI, AISC, BS, ASCE), company standards, and project specifications.
• Perform

  model checks

  , maintain LOD standards, and ensure quality of deliverables.
• Manage

  revision control, sheet setup, title blocks, view templates,

  and project documentation.

4. Collaboration with Engineering Teams

• Work closely with

  structural engineers

  to interpret design calculations, sketches, and specifications.
• Incorporate engineering changes, RFIs, and vendor information accurately into the model.
  
• Support field teams with

  as-built modeling

  and construction updates.

5. BIM Data & Documentation Management

• Generate

  quantity take-offs, schedules, material lists

  , and extraction of annotated drawings.
• Maintain and manage

  model libraries, parametric families

  , and templates tailored to Oil & Gas facility requirements.
• Manage cloud-based collaboration environments (BIM 360 / ACC).
  

6. Project Planning & Deliverables

• Estimate modeling/drafting work-hours and plan deliverables per project schedule.
  
• Ensure timely delivery of

  IFC, AFC

  , and construction drawing packages.
• Support digital workflows for

  FEED, Detailed Engineering, and EPC

  phases.

7. Safety, Constructability & Field Support

• Apply knowledge of construction sequencing, site constraints, and plant operations during modeling.
  
• Support construction teams by providing

  model-based clarifications

  , additional views, and field-fit solutions.
