Job Description

What are we looking for?

HDFC Life is seeking an experienced and forward-thinking AI Engineer specializing in Generative AI to lead initiatives in the BFSI (Banking, Financial Services, and Insurance) sector. You will design, develop, and deploy next-gen AI solutions using open-source LLMs, retrieval-augmented generation (RAGs), and Agentic workflows to solve real-world business problems.

This role demands a blend of hands-on model development, system design, and production-grade deployment expertise, with an eye on scalability, explanability, and business impact.

Candidate Requirements:

Experience: 7 - 9 years of experience in AI/ML, with 3+ years hands-on with Generative AI, LLMs, and NLP applications.
Education: Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science, AI, Data Science, or a related field.
Proficient in Python, PyTorch, or TensorFlow, with experience in fine-tuning transformer models.
Strong exposure to open-source LLMs like Metas LLaMA, Mistral, Falcon, etc., and the Hugging Face Transformers & PEFT ecosystem.
Practical experience implementing RAG pipelines using tools like Haystack, LangChain, or LLM Foundry.
Understanding and application of Agentic workflowsbuilding multi-step autonomous agents for tasks such as claims processing, underwriting, or customer query handling.
Experience working with cloud AI services (AWS Sagemaker, GCP Vertex AI, Azure OpenAI) and containerized deployment (Docker, Kubernetes).
Familiar with prompt engineering, few-shot/zero-shot learning, and cost-performance trade-offs in LLM operations.
