As CFO of the Renewable Energy Division, you will be the financial steward and strategic partner, leading financial operations, planning, and controls for the division’s growth in clean energy initiatives. You will directly report to the Group CFO or MD and work closely with business leaders to drive financial excellence, profitability, and sustainable growth. You will also be responsible for the evaluation of strategic investments and proposals, and for setting up growth plans at the group level to support long-term business objectives.
- Craft and execute the financial strategy aligned with the division’s growth plans in renewable energy.
- Provide financial forecasting, budgeting, and performance monitoring for Greenfield and brownfield projects.
- Collaborate with business heads on project viability, feasibility analysis, and funding decisions.
- Lead budgeting, monthly reporting, variance analysis, and multi-year forecasting.
- Track key metrics such as IRR, ROI, payback period, and project-level profitability.
- Ensure transparent and insightful financial reporting to enable swift decision-making.
- Secure and manage project funding via loans, equity, or alternative sources, optimizing the cost of capital.
- Oversee working capital, debt servicing, and covenant management.
- Ensure adherence to statutory regulations, including SEBI, GST, Ind AS, and renewable energy regulations (e.g., CERC, MNRE).
- Implement internal controls and financial governance across project and operations teams.
- Oversee cash management, collections, disbursements, currency exposures, and banking relationships.
- Monitor project milestone cash flows and ensure liquidity meets project execution needs.
- Identify financial risks and develop mitigation strategies (currency, interest rate, project delivery).
- Manage insurance and guarantees across EPC contracts, O&M agreements, and asset financing.
- Mentor finance teams across the division and foster capability-building.
- Act as a key liaison with investors, banks, auditors, and statutory authorities.
Educational Qualification
- Chartered Accountant (CA) or Cost & Management Accountant (CMA) mandatory.
- Additional qualifications such as MBA (Finance) or CFA preferred.
Experience
- 15–20 years of progressive finance leadership experience, with at least 5–7 years as Head of Finance / CFO in the power, renewable energy, or infrastructure sector.
- Proven experience in project finance, debt syndication, and financial structuring for large-scale infrastructure or renewable projects.
- Exposure to both operational finance and strategic corporate finance, including M&A, investor relations, and capital market transactions.
- Hands-on experience in managing financial operations for geographically spread multi-state projects.
Technical / Functional Competencies
- Strong understanding of renewable energy project economics, tariff models, PPAs, and regulatory frameworks.
- Expertise in financial modeling, cash flow management, and ROI analysis.
- Skilled in managing relationships with banks, financial institutions, and investors for raising debt and equity.
- Experience in treasury management, forex risk management, and hedging strategies.
- Deep knowledge of compliance, taxation (direct & indirect), corporate governance, and audit processes.
