As a Chemical Development Lead at Bayer, you will be a crucial part of the Global Crop Protection Innovation Team based in Vapi. Your role involves advancing Bayer's portfolio of crop protection solutions through the development and optimization of chemical processes. Here are the key responsibilities and qualifications for this position: **Role Overview:** You will be responsible for screening and evaluating chemical literature and patents, inventing and developing synthetic routes, optimizing chemical processes, leading multi-step experimental studies, collaborating with cross-functional teams, preparing technical documentation, transferring processes to manufacturing scale, and developing yourself and others. **Key Responsibilities:** - Analyze chemical literature and patents to ensure competitive and innovative process development for crop protection agents. - Lead a team for developing safe, robust, and cost-effective synthetic routes for manufacturing crop protection agents. - Develop and optimize chemical processes focusing on cost, quality, safety, and sustainability. - Plan, design, and execute complex experimental studies ensuring safe, efficient, and scalable manufacturing processes. - Work closely with analytical chemists, process engineers, pilot plant team, and project managers to achieve project goals. - Draft SOPs, technical reports, presentations, and technology dossiers for process documentation. - Oversee the transfer of new processes to the pilot plant for smooth handover to manufacturing plants or tolling partners. - Foster continuous personal and team development through knowledge sharing, training, and mentorship. **Qualifications Required:** - Ph.D./PostDoc in Organic Chemistry or related discipline from a reputed institute. - 15+ years of experience in Chemical Process Development. - Strong expertise in modern synthetic methodologies and organic reaction mechanisms. - Experience with Process Analytical Technologies (PAT) will be an added advantage. - Proven problem-solving skills and ability to lead and develop team members. - Strong written and verbal communication skills with a collaborative approach. - Self-driven with a passion for continuous learning and development. - Experience mentoring junior Process Chemists.
