The DAV Group - Chennai, functioning under the aegis of Tamil Nadu Arya Samaj Educational Society was established in 1970 at Gopalapuram in Chennai with just 50 students. The Group today, caters to over 40,000 students across Tamil Nadu and Puducherry. It has a staff of 1500 plus which includes 1,200 teachers. Four of our branches have been consistently ranked amongst top 15 schools in the country.
In addition to K-12 schooling, DAV has recently ventured into Higher Education with DAV-SMK Fomra College of Arts & Science at Kelambakkam, Chennai.
We are seeking a passionate and talented Music Teacher to join our school’s co‑curricular team. The ideal candidate will teach music to students, nurture their interest and talents, and contribute to a lively, creative and inclusive school culture.
Educational Qualification & Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Music, Music Education, or a related discipline.

Proficiency in one or more musical instruments and/or vocal training; solid knowledge of music theory and fundamentals.

Good communication, interpersonal skills and ability to engage children and adolescents.

Passion for music; willingness to participate in co‑curricular activities (practices, performances, events) beyond regular class hours.
Roles & Responsibilities

Plan, prepare and deliver structured music lessons (theory and practical) according to the school’s music curriculum.

Teach music fundamentals — notation, rhythm, melody, vocal or instrumental skills, music theory, ear training, etc.

Organize and lead musical activities such as choir, band or ensemble practices; coordinate rehearsals; prepare students for concerts, recitals, school functions, competitions or performances.

Assess student performance and progress; give feedback, identify strengths and improvement areas; support students individually or in small groups as needed.

Maintain and manage musical instruments and teaching resources; ensure proper care/organization of equipment and practice spaces.

Collaborate with other teachers, staff and school administration to integrate music with overall school curriculum and events; help plan and coordinate cultural programmes and events.

Create a positive, supportive and inclusive learning environment that encourages creativity, discipline, participation and musical appreciation among students
