Career Counsellor

Role & responsibilities

1. Student Guidance & Counselling

• Provide one-on-one counselling sessions to help students identify career interests, strengths, and aspirations.
  
• Conduct aptitude, personality, and interest assessments using standardized tools.
  
• Guide students in selecting appropriate subject combinations aligned with their career goals.
  
• Assist students in setting short-term and long-term academic and career plans.
  

2. College & University Admission Support

• Guide students through national and international college admission processes.
  
• Provide information on application deadlines, eligibility criteria, entrance exams, and scholarship opportunities.
  
• Support students in preparing SOPs, essays, portfolios, and recommendation letters.
  
• Conduct orientation sessions for parents and students on higher-education pathways.
  

3. Career Awareness & Skill Development

• Organize career guidance workshops, seminars, and guest lectures with industry experts.
  
• Conduct sessions on soft skills, communication, goal-setting, time management, and interview preparation.
  
• Help students understand emerging careers, new-age skills, and future job market trends.
  

4. Documentation, Reporting & Planning

• Maintain confidential counselling records for each student.
  
• Prepare career plans, assessment reports, and progress tracking for students.
  
• Submit monthly and annual reports to the Principal/Academic Coordinator.
  
• Create and update career-related resources, brochures, and informational material.
  

5. Parent Communication & Engagement

• Conduct counselling meetings with parents to discuss student progress, career options, and educational pathways.
  
• Address parent concerns regarding academic choices, stress, or performance.
  
• Guide parents in understanding current industry trends and global education systems.
  

6. Collaboration with Teachers & School Management

• Work closely with class teachers, coordinators, and academic teams to identify students needing guidance.
  
• Provide teachers with insights on students' strengths and career interests to support classroom development.
  
• Participate in faculty meetings, planning sessions, and school-wide initiatives.
  

7. Career Events & Exposure Programs

• Plan and execute career fairs, university visits, industrial tours, internship opportunities, and mentoring programs.
  
• Coordinate with external agencies, universities, and education consultants for student engagement events.
  

8. Emotional & Academic Support

• Support students facing stress, peer pressure, academic difficulties, or decision-making challenges.
  
• Provide preliminary emotional guidance and refer students to school counsellors/psychologists when needed.
  

9. Maintaining Ethical Standards

• Ensure confidentiality, professionalism, and unbiased guidance at all times.
  
• Maintain updated knowledge of educational trends, career requirements, and counselling best practices.
  

10. Continuous Professional Development

• Attend training programs, workshops, and certification courses to enhance counselling skills.
  
• Stay updated with new-age careers, global education trends, and digital tools for career guidance.
