Technical Skills:

  • Knowledge of plastic materials and injection molding processes.

  • Strong knowledge and experience in CATIA V5 and Teamcenter & Vismockup is a plus.

Role Description / Job Summary:

The Automotive CAD Designer will be responsible for the end-to-end design of IP parts such as Instrument Panel (IP) - Main Substrate Lower, Upper, Defroster Panel and Box, Knee Bolster, Sealing Foam, Air Duct, Console Duct Adapter, Center Stack, Finish Panel and etc. The ideal candidate must have worked at least One or two vehicle program(s) from concept to until production release. The role requires strong design fundamentals, material/process knowledge, and cross-functional collaboration to deliver high-quality components that meet performance, aesthetic, and cost requirements.

Key Responsibilities / Deliverables:

  • Ability to perform for end-to-end design on New Product Design for (NPD) Instrument Panel (IP) commodity.

  • Experience with multiple programs, managing project work from concept through production release.

  • Strong technical knowledge and ability to work independently.

  • Excellent in CATIA V5, including Generative Shape Design, Part Design, Assembly, and Drafting workbenches.

  • Strong design fundamentals along with material and manufacturing process knowledge to design high-quality components.

  • Collaborate effectively with Design and Release Engineers (DnR) and other cross-functional teams.

  • Provide new CAD proposals and technical solutions to Design and Release (DnR) Engineer and team internally.

  • Thorough understanding and able to work as per Fords new program gateways and milestone requirements.

  • Deliver CAD 3D/2D models and documentation with high quality and on-time delivery.

  • Good in GD&T with practical experience for creating 2D and 3D drawings.

  • Follow Fords design rules and requirements strictly according to guidelines.

  • Flexible team player and able to work effectively under challenging and demanding environments.

  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance existing product design performance and efficiency.

  • Able to work in fast-paced settings while prioritizing multiple tasks efficiently.

  • Provide strategic guidance and mentorship to junior team members to foster their development and team success.

  • Contribute to development and ongoing improvement of design guidelines and processes for IP.

  • Candidates having sheet metal, Teamcenter, Visualization mockup and 3DX experience will be an added advantage.
